The DOT wars of normal PvP are making me want to try something new, and ranger is sounding interesting. How viable would this be? Is the areatrack for players very large? Also, every day i hear people wishing there was a ranger around for krayt hunting....maybe i can be that ranger?thanks!
Im assuming you meant Ranger, where you first put Jedi
For a Master Ranger, the radius is 500 meters, which translates into over 1 million square meters of land tracked (mountains and other wacky terrain affects outcome)
At tracking IV, you get 400 (maybe 450...its been a long time) If you get a jedi in your scopes, pray that theyre not on a speeder, because you will likely lose them the next time you track them.
Its usefull... but know its limitations and benefits... besides, the jedi has to stop and kill things eventually
Thanks for the catch! I've edited it to ranger.
Anyways, I would most likely be cruising around the rarely visited corners of the advanced planets(dath, endor, etc.), looking for hunting jedi. With all the terrain negotiation from ranger, i'm pretty sure i could keep up with them once i found em. Not having TN has let several jedi slip through my fingers in the past.
Like i said, i'm basically looking for something new to do in PvP. CMs and the proliferation of dot weapons have totally killed the fun in pvp for me. Now i might set my sights on the wiliest of targets...jedi!
If you start stalking remote areas of challenge planets, you should find a ton of jedi. I cant throw a rock and not hit some grinding jedi when I go exploring.
Something I did for a friend who was hunting Jedi.
I tracked a Jedi to within 100 meters,
walked up to him, targeted him and /rescue
15 forest gurrecks came charging me, and burstrunning I ran.
1) I knew that the gurrecks would keep up with me... most cats do.
2) I knew the jedi would follow because I stole over 70k of xp from him.
3) I led the jedi into a trap where a Master BH friend was waiting for me.
I got on my speeder, and took off... the jedi went back to killing the gurrecks and the BH popped out and finished the jedi off.
It was a great success.

Keep in mind: As a ranged combat profession you will most likely NOT be able to kill 'highlevel' jedi.
When Kope was still Master Ranger/Master Rifleman a quite known (Light-) Jedi Guardian 4-4-4-4 (Teksas Tournado) was part of an attack on our four imperial bases. After he killed me I went through the combat log and did not notice a single shot going through (pages and pages of 'but he evades it').
Fencers seem to do best against highlevel jedi (still a highlevel jedi knowing what he does will most likely win (given t hat he gets force intimidate and force stun - no idea if those are the exact names - to stick on the fencer to break his dodge and render his melee defense non-existing, but fencers can pick on more advanced jedis than most other combat professions).
I understand that high level jedi will be damn near impossible. I'm more looking to hunt mid level grinding ones. I was almost thinking of keeping fencer instead of rifleman, but honestly, fencers can only kill jedi with extremely uber acklay batons(which i dont have). Without a huge dmg baton, 40% stun armor + 45% psg will neuter a fencer. I'm also part of a hardcore pvp guild, so rifle might be a better choice for group pvp and base defense than fencer.
As far as them blocking shots, i was thinking thati would getsome accuracy food , as well as specially crafted extremely accurate rifles for applying states.
Another thing, as a ranger, i might be able to get my hands on more krayt tissues, so i can upgrade my guns ![]()

I know
You guys visit us (our bases) not so seldom (and some of your fencers also visit our Mall quite regularly to get some Acklay stunbatons from Icaruz' vendor
Maybe you were in one of the raiding parties that hitted Neo-Rome too one day

I used a +120@54 DXR6-b in the described event, no accuracy food tho as it was still bugged at that point. But I probably looked like a mummy at that time as I was clad in a load of rifle-specific SEA's including accuracy-centric
Still, I hardly managed to get a shot through

That's btw kinda funny to read from a Team Webel Member with the King of DoT-Wars Kni'il on your side hehe

And, with the coming changes, a well set up Jedi will have high toughness mods for melee attacks and high defense mods as well. Jedi won't be quite so easy anymore (and high level ones aren't easy now anyway).

I *personally* never use dot stuff.....cuz i hate it so much when i get hit by it! ![]()
And yeah, I've been over to neo-rome a few times. hehe
