Thread: Anyone check out the Death Bunker?

I stopped by last night while I was in the area hunting blurggs for carn meat (986 OQ/955 PE). Holy cripes there were a lot of ppl there (No Rangers tho). Looked like a laser light show. A group of rebs had control over the ground leading into the bunker and they were holding strong. That is until some Imperials showed up to even the numbers. I stayed about 50m out and looked on. A Super battle droid popped and immediately got some attention. I suited up my composite and set my sights on him. At 250K he took a while to drop. I went to loot, but no joy.

Time to go inside and see what’s up. I got in the running line and made my way inside. It reminded me of the Running of the Bulls (I’m lol at this point). Pick a target and blast away. Nothing I saw was anything I’d want to do alone, but I scouted around just to see the new lair.

I got tired of that mess real quick and went back to the peace and quite of the Endor forest. So I’m about 100m outside the bunker (I can still see damage numbers like lightning) and a Super Battle pops from nowhere. I bust run outta there and darn near run into two more. Things had infested the whole area. After that I moved to a more remote location. Much better now. Back to the good ol’ hunt.

Maybe I can buy Death Bunker loot with my sold carn meat.

I stopped by and quite quickly decided to leave. I have now commissioned a set of 90% composite armor (my fourth set of armor since launch: a set of Marauder armor, a set of Ubese for when I was trying Brawler and TKA, and a set of Composite for the rare occassions when I PvP). I will be going back to get Mandalorian (just a warning--the BH armor is rumored to be only obtainable outside of the dungeon in wild spawns). Should be good fun.

It's good fun once you managed to get past the usual entrance camping already known from the geonosian cave.

That was mildly unpleasent tbh, but I did survive it. it was the result of the slightly (heh) insane spawnrate which IMHO should be toned down a bit especially when getting deeper inside. In the entrance area there are a lot of people so the rate can be handled, we didn't see a single soul outside of our group after some point and it got a bit problematic then (major problem is time, we had to stop because our buffs ran out and as usual buffing is not possible inside :/).

Btw, I actually survived tanking those six droids for my group thanks to my group's CM that spammed heals on me .

Its a gerat place and theoretically should be fun once you launch your big push.

I was there last night but only for scouting purposes to gather the key and some gas mask components. I now have mixed fealings towards to bunker.

I think the difficulty level of the death watch and black sun npcs are just right, not easy but at the same time they shouldnt take a full group to take one down.

However i am extremely disapointed with the presense of battle droids and super battle droids. Why they would be here of all places is anyone guess but it just seems the devs couldnt be bothered to add new looking mobs or maybe a varient of the droids so they just stuffed these things in.

There is no reward in defeating these machines and only causes bordom for ten minutes whilst you slowly work down their ham. When fighting a wraith i dont have a problem spending 10-15 mins working on a target as there could be a reward for doing so and ultimatly it seams like they are worthwhile kills. However battle droids and super battle droids are only there to dull down the experience and imo succeed to a great degree in ruining the excitment factor when you first enter the bunker.

On another negative, the spawn rates are insane down there and because of this coupled with the bordom bringers (super battle droids) there seems to be little excitment when trying to clear a room because as soon as you clear one little area of the room the rest of the room spawns and your get mobbed. This has nothing to do with the intruder detection feature that spawns mobs, its simpy the rate at which static npcs refresh.

The concept of the dungeon is great and i agree with making it difficult, however i think the devs have made it very clear their idea of difficulty is simply through adding generic battledroids, bordom bringers and insane resists with super high hams. The inclusion of high level npcs with high resists and armour etc are all fine with me except i think its a poor state of afairs when combating these npcs requires nothing but the amount of punch your weapon has. Fighting these beasts have nothing to do with tactics, you cannot use your specials to apply states on these npcs it all comes down to damage damage damage. This creates a very generic and 'gone there before' fealing that shouldnt be experienced whilst doing this dungeon.

Oh well, i hope the spawn rates get fixed and the super battle droids get tonned down or replaced with dw or bs npcs.

The opening of the DW Bunker means i can finally go to the Geo Labs. I refuse to go while the places are camped, and while the Labs will still be camped, it should be empty enough that one can travel around without too much problem (or lag). The best part of the Corvette was that I could go on opening day since it was only your group in the dungeon.

As far as using the battle droids in the DW BUnker, it is sad that they didn't have the time to code some new skins, but the one thing stressed in all the (applicable) responses in the Corr forum, is that artwork is one of the hardest things to implement. You need to make sure the art looks correct in every possible instance (arm is raised to 30 degrees, 35 degree, 40 degrees, arm twists a little at 45 degree...see what I mean?). Since they all ready had the uber mobs they needed to round out the Bunker, they just went with them. I wish they have just added more wraiths, but they seem to have wanted variety (within the dungeon).

Alright, before any of you waste time attacking 250k HAM mobs in hopes of getting a piece of mandalorian, I've heard that Mandalorian armor must be crafted INSIDE death watch bunker by a master armorsmith, not simply looted off the mobs there though you might need to loot a schematic.

Thing is: The 'campfest' in the DWB is just the first room, it gets empty if you go just a bit deeper inside. I haven't seen a single soul besides those of my group beyond the second door inside.

You actually need parts to loot (bounty hunter armor for example) and those get converted to Mandalorian armor (not crafted in the classical sense, they won't get a creator name as usual crafted items). And you need an Armorsmith, a droid engineer and a tailor for that process :-).

I've even heard a rumor that you can only loot the BH armor off the random Black Sun spawns and that it does not drop in the dungeon.

None of our groups that were there did loot a single piece of bh armor inside the Bunker so I guess it's exactly as the rumour says

Yes, it is true. BH armor does not drop inside the bunker. You do have to obtain it from the random spawns. As for loot. If you go to the bunker hoping to find some uber loot that you can sell for a bizillion credits, might as well stay home. This bunker is geared for the sole purpose of getting Mando armor and the Jetpack. You're not going to find crystals, tons of money, or stuff like that in there. They do however have a few schematics for a weapon or two, and crates of art that, when combined, will make a new portrait. I'm sure once you get further in, you might be able to sell the resources found within for the crafting of the armor, or perhaps jet pack pieces, but don't expect a lot of credits for them.
