Well, looking around, I've found that there is a file in your SWG directory that contains a LOT of music. It is called data_music_00.tre. What I find really interesting is that you can open it and listen to it in a media player like Winamp. The Devs seem to have access to a ton of ambient music that I've never heard in game before (there is over 80 minutes of music in this file and yet they just seem to repeat the same stuff over and over again). But it is interesting to listen to the stuff. I'm just wondering when they will add events to trigger the stuff (or make the events that do trigger the music a bit more common). Have a listen. It's quite cool.

Damm man, it would be cool if you could change the music.

Take out that crappy combat music and stick in some Jimmy Hendrix

I'm pretty sure you can but I haven't bothered to try. All you would need to do is find some way to edit the file. The main problem would be if you decided to do a Full Scan as it would probably fix the file for you.

The more I listen to this stuff, the more I wish that you had the music playing during the game. Is this the sort of issue that the Core Systems correspondent would handle, Calc? Because the Devs have access to a nice selection of music on our hard drives already. They just need to put it in at appropriate times.

Hmmm, that would explain why we don't hear much from the devs at the weekend..... guess they found my file containing 40gb's of hardcore porn

Well, that's interesting. I'm listening to it now, and I am hearing a lot of stuff I have yet to hear. Pretty sad that they have1 hour and 20 minutes of music and we hear like 20 minutes worth. This game would be greatly enhanced by the simple inclusion of some new music. I guess it may not be as simple as one would think.

I think the problem is mainly finding places to put the music. It would get old quite quickly if they just looped through the songs so they have to tie them into events. And finding appropriate events to tie them into is not as easy as it might seem. Although I do wish they had multiple combat songs. When I get some time, I might make a post on this sort of thing in the Core Systems Forum. But not until late Thursday at the earliest.

there used to be a petition going around the core systems forum about this... not quite the same idea, but it was along the same lines - "make use of the music you have"
