Thread: Krayt Dragon Hunting

Hello All-

Last friday, my guildmates and I went on a nice Krayt Dragon Hunt.

Our Doc buffed us, we drank some V-brandy... and we flew to Mos Krayta (did I mention we're on Flurry?).

Being a Ranger an' all, I figured it'd be a cinch. But no such luck. Didn't find anything.... we even cleared every creature in the Graveyard a few times to try and force a spawn (or something like that). To no avail.

Aside from patience...

Is there any advice you fellow Rangers have for hunting Krayts?

Thank you.

And I'm almost done with the grind too! Woo Hoo! Master Ranger here I come!

Krayts being a rare spawn in a light spawning system are truely hit or miss. You did about all you can do to coax one to spawn. My advice is to try again someday.

In my experience, Ranger does little good, in a group krayt hunting situation. I've spent 4 hours areatracking my ass off to no avail. If you want to areatrack the graveyard and call in the troops, it works pretty well. If you're going there as a group, scope it out a little before hand keep track of where you see the dragons, they will be there again eventually. Just have a doc or 2 on hand to buff and rez as needed and save yer brandy until you see the dragon, because it can be a long wait lol.

Dunno what the problem is. I was out near the Krayt graveyard beating on banthas as their hide at the time was 992 SR. I kept tripping over Krayts. I was not looking for them, was not buffed, or armored, and found a minimum of 3 whenever I did /ar to find banthas. This went on for two days.

My server even has a town set up by complete retards right on the border of the Graveyard, meant to camp the area and take on Jedi wanna-bes. This town messes with spawn in the area. Maybe because it was a weekday and the little darlings were in 3d grade (still) but the Krayts were spawning something fierce.

Of course, it could be me.A guildie has stated that hunting with me guarantees big XP, as I can aggro entire planets.

If I'm looking for krayts, I rarely bother going into the Krayt Graveyard POI/canyon area.

Check out the Tatooine planet map for krayt spawns. Notice most krayt locations are in the canyon/POI area, along with other spawns. Now, pay no attention to that!

Try 1000m West of the graveyard entrance. 90% of the krayts I've ever seen have been in that area. It's also easier terrain to track in.

Basically, look for the Sandcrawler with the jawa/tusken battle. (around 5600,4000) Try 500-600m from that in all directions. I see them all the time North, NW and SE of there. But rarely inside or surrounding the canyon.

Hey Osiraos

I have also had the problem of not finding any Krayts (on the Chilastra Server) previously.

I remember reading elsewhere on this forum that the Jedi can team up for XP grinding sessions and completely wipe out all the spawns for that day. Whether a spawn can be taken out for a whole day or not i'm not sure, but i have seen Jedi Krayt hunting parties neverthless.

Hope that helps

As a brief aside... When i was doing the Jabba Theme Park a while back i came across a most interesting find on the Chilastra server....

Two Krayts (a juvenile and some other type but not ancient) spawned and frolicking playfully about in plain site 1 km west to northwest of JP. So surprised was i to see them there, that i almost ran them over. I was wandering if anyone else had seen them in other areas of Tat apart from around the graveyard...?

Ta Thanks

I stumbled across a few Krayts about 4k west of the graveyard. It wasn't so far out that I was overly shocked, but still not where I expected to find them.

I've ALWAYS had bad luck krayt hunting. Whenever I actually go out looking for them, I come back empty handed. Low and behold though, when I'm fartin around unbuffed without armour, they'll spawn right on top of me! That's how she goes though.

I've seen a few WSW of Kenobi's place. Don't know if my eyes were playing tricks on me or not. Also try the pit, and dragon skeleton poi's.

good luck.

Hey Fright

You wanna guess where said retards set up their town?

Yep, right where you see the spawns. Morons have it so you can stand in town and shoot at the sandcrawler spawns. Not saying all Imps are morons, but these give morons a bad name.

You would think there would be a rather large no build zone near established spawning areas, but then again, the Devs could all join this guild and fit right in.

Well, imp... rebel.. Both sides have their share of morons.

Just because someone joined their faction in a city street or in the back of a cantina doesn't make them more or less intelligent.

Fortunately on Kauri, no city exists in that area, although there are a ton of buildings. Those don't seem to interfere with the spawn and it's actually a great hunting ground for just about everything. Are the structures on your server part of a zoned player city?

I agree, that sucks and player cities shouldn't be allowed so close to either the krayt graveyard or near the sandcrawler (where most of the krayts actually spawn). I've noticed lots of people like to set up player cities around the non-badge POI points to add a sort of unique decoration to their city.
