Was hunting the gorax today, and had a disturbing experience, besides dying 3-4 times.

I had set up my HTFB, in order to heal some wounds, empty my stomach and all that, and the group I was with started attacking the gorax.. ok, that's annoying when people can't wait a few minutes. Also very annoying that our top of the line camp doesn't have a latrine to quicken the disposal of food and drinks but I'm digressing.

No, the freaky thing was that the gorax would circle the camp, but not wander straight into it. The guy has outrageous range anyway, so I still needed to remain at the other end of the camp, but for some reason he wouldn't cross the fence around it, and he seemed to get caught up against the fence at times, with the awkward"rubbing" animation.

We all know camps don't work, so what was this? some odd fluke? maybe he can't enter because he's too tall, and the ceiling stops him?

stealth fix? TH actually kept a promise? they broke something else (droid battery level anyone?) and accidentally made the game function correctly?

Curious - were you in combat with him at the time, were you not in combat with him but your group members were, or was he just wandering around? (Though I think these things cut through camo like butter dont they?) If you were in combat and the camp had "died" maybe there is some issues with it becoming totally collidable? I would think if he was circling he would have eventually found a way in. Or maybe you are right and he is just too tall... though I awear I've had kimos stomp through my bases before.

Or maybe you had the good sense to set up your base on a server boundary.

I was outside of combat, emptying my gut as it where, so base was not abandoned.

My group was just outside fighting, 1 guy inside that got mashed when the gorax circled halfway around the camp and stomped the dance of joy next to him.

And yeah, gorax eats maskscent for lunch and picks his teeth with camo, and traps is a funky sort of cologne.

I am devoid of common sense.

Repelling agro does not work, nor will it ever work. The devs feel there is too much exploit potential at this time and have decided to change the description of the high tech field base to not hint at agro repellant.

I dont think this was ever 'broken', simply taken out because they couldnt implement it in a way that didnt open it up to exploiting unfortunatly.

My question is, did it ever work? It may never have been implemented and only had a bad discription. Lots of description issues managed to slip into the game.

Im sure ive read somewhere that it was implemented at one point but removed before launch because it was exploitable but the description was never changed.

Ill spend some time searching for the post if it exists but i just think it was removed because of the exploit use.

It definately did work. You used to be able to set up a HTFB, sit in the middle, and snipe at creatures with 0 risk. They did not disband unless you told them to or left the planet (somewhat annoying if you forgot to take one down and wanted to set up another) and they repelled agro. Together, this meant that creatures could not get into the camp and you could fight while in it. While I don't think both abilities should have been removed, some change was needed and the nerf bat came swinging hard.
