Thread: Crafting interdependance > combat interdependence

I'm posting this here because I think it's the place where it's most obvious.

Tailors need BE's to make enhanced clothes.
Droid engineers need master artisans to make flight computer program disks.
Combat medics need doctors to make decent ranged stims.
I'm sure there's more but I can't think of them...

So in that vein I believe that combat templates should counter each other like that.
Commando's are supposed to counter AT-ST's and turrets.
Bounty Hunters counter Jedi's.
Doctors counter Combat Medic's.

Three of the most useless professions could be useful again following a similar template.

Make Creature Handlers stronger again, but make sure Rangers can counter them. So a master rifleman/master CH should win 50% of the time against a master rifleman/master Ranger. Traps should be effective enough against pets to allow the ranger to hold them off while taking out the owner, at least half of the time.

Make Rangers a lot better but make sure Squad Leaders can detect them. So stealth and recon can become a more integral part of the game, give squad leaders the detection equipment and capabilities to see through the camo half of the time. If you're defending a base, make sure you have a SL or two so that a contingent of camo'd attackers doesn't appear at your footsteps to lay you to waste. You could even make it a droid module for the SL to use that will alert the SL to nearby encroachers.

As I see it, this gives all three professions a huge boost, while also keeping the playing field level.

Interesting concept. Something I thought of testing (but can't for another 4 months) is are we sure traps don't work on pets already? I've never seen anything in writing that it won't.

Traps don't work on pets. They should, but don't. Guess the NPC faction pets mess that up. And no, our traps are for animals. BHs had a shot at getting people traps, but blew it.

We are not going to be invisible - ever never ever. So say the Devs, as it invites 3d party program use for packet sniffing to see where the invis people are. Therefore, the camo/SL idea, tho good, dies unborn.

CHs are generally worthless, I agree. Let them be more powerful, but let us be able to trap the pets. Great idea. Oh CHs are good to get high level missions solo, that's about it. Seen too many pets run off at the wrong time to think different - CH lunchables. This would be a perfect foil to the CH in PvP and give us a PvP role.

That's crap too. They just stop sending packets that have the location of the invisible person and so they don't show up on radar. Just like you're someplace else, or like you're lagged away 200 meters. I thought we opened up their eyes to this issue at Fan Fest. There is a phenomonon when crossing server boundaries where a character will dissappear. They'll still be there, but you can't see them on screen or on radar. You can send them tells and they will be in communications on group chat but that's about it. No targeting, no shooting them. Their damage still appears on targets you're both shooting though. That to me says camo, and it's unintentional, and it's just a matter of the client NOT recieving those packets.

On top of that as a Ranger I'd rather have someone try using a third party packet sniffer to try and find me than not have any Camo at all.
