Tracking doesn't give a waypoint.
/areatrack brings up a list of creatures within 500m, along with the approximate compass direction and the distance it was when you /areatracked.

You can track the npc's with ranger tracking. Although due to spawning system, not always a guarenteed thing. If you are looking to find a ranger to do this for you, try posting a "want to hire ranger" on your servers trade forum.
