Thread: Jedi, Tat heroes, and BE's: a resolution. For me, anyway

My ranger is nothing more then a PURE hunter. I do agree that going out to help other players gets very disturbing. Escpecially when they complain I'm taking too long. I still track from time to time, but mostly for myself or for close friends.

When accepting job offers I have a rule

"Tracking ...Just say no!"

People often send me a tell and ask if I'm a ranger, I usually reply "Yes I am, unless you want me to track something!".

I agree on all counts. And I personally think its great when a BE and Ranger work together. We can benefit each other in the field. Being able to conceal them, track for the creatures there finding, and use rescue on them helps make you think the profession has a meaning.

Well im sure being married to a BE in game isn't part of the reason i feel this way

Oof.

I'm finding about Tracking's badside first hand. I'm working on finding Avian Meat for a doctor.

Needless to say... it's real slow going. I might have to cut the order short... it's real tedious and not at all fun.

The BE thing is awesome... and I never thought of doing that.

Heres what really sucks.

You find something ingame that people would probably need( marauder, krayt, whatever). Well, you go to forums, put up a post telling anyone that needs "creature Blah" to send you a /tell . Well, you wait around a few minutes looking at said creature, grow bored. Startheading back to whatever outpost ,and all of a sudden you see a jedi gank squad using a fan pattern looking for something. Hmmmm, well, thats the last time that will happen.

Very discouraging

That is exactly what I was getting at. A nice little symbiosis that goes beyond the 'find X and I'll pay you' dynamic. Seems a heck of a lot more satisfying, not to mention fun.

I'm tired of tracking for other players. It's tedious and it isn't remotely fun. So, I'm done. No more graul marauders, no more albatrosses, no more boars or pirates or moisture farmers. Outrageous tracking fees for such things be damned.

Bio-engineers. I like them. Another forgotten profession on the fringe, like us. From here on out, I only work for BE's. And I'll work for free.

I'm hungry for content. I want to be aRanger. Tracking for some fool who's off having fun on a different planet is not being a Ranger. (I'm being too harsh--I've had some truly nice clients.) However, accompanying a Bio-engineer as they collect samples-- serving as a guide, a guard (if need be), and a general wilderness expert-- that's the kind of Ranger I want to be.

Yeah, I'll still hunt for a living; harvesting for Armorsmiths and Chefs has made me a pretty wealthy man.At least, wealthy enough to move past the 'I need credits!' phase and intoa 'how can I be a better member of my community' frame of mind.

Many of you may already have working relationships with BE's. If so, I envy you. I can't wait to get my firstgmail or tell from a BE who could use my skills. (Though I may have to wait long-- Bio-engineers are as rare as Rangers on my server if not more so.)

Do any of you feel the itch to be something more than justa bloodhound for Jedi and badge-seekers? I know I do.
