Thread: [OT]Ummm....
PLEASE tell me SOE is doing more than this, and just not telling anyone about it. At the very minimum i think they should look through their files for anyone living in the Gulf Coast area and waive the $15/month subscription fee.
But all i really want is for a Dev to come out and say "Yes SOE is doing more than just this" because this byitself looks very very shallow

I do know that a certian bouncy red name has been helping relocate families to the Austin area. That's pretty commendable. I want to say that I saw somewhere that the devs were waiving fees, but I can't prove it (it might just be wishful thinking). I am sure there is more in the background.
But she isn't doing that in the name of SOE, so it isn't officially done by SOE.

There's the ray of sunshine I was hoping for. SOE is letting her do it...I am assuming there is nothing I can to make you feel like good is being done, so I will let it go.
I am sure companies with offices around that area are probably doing much more. I think this is something that is a little too serious to post about on the forums though - then it would just become a marketing ploy. The billing and maintenance stuff is directly related to the game and you would expect to see it on the forum.
For those members who play this game in the gulf coast area we have, in addition to suspending the fee for thier accounts, decided to turn maintinance off for houses harvesters etc... for a while. This will be done immediately and we will give one weeks notice when we are turning it back on.
SOE also encourages everyone to donate to The American Red Cross to help those people who have been affected by this awful tragedy.
Would have come across as more informative without being self-promotional.

Calc, there are people in this world with points of view other than your own. "Letting it go" is insulting by insinuating that some kind of opinion conflict exists between us on this, and almost every topic, and I am the person clinging to an opinion that is false and irrational and will not let it go to accept your own opinion. Your role as a human being is not to make people see things your way, but if you want to do that you pursuade. I was stating that an employee of SOE doing something without being instructed by her employers, or while not on their pay roll, should not reflect upon the company she works for. She is showing what kind of person she is, not what kind of company she works for.
And Linus, I also felt that they handled it badly. Almost everything related to relief from Katrina has had the American Red Cross and / or Salvation Army contact information duct-taped to it, which is why I was surprised it was missions from their note as well.
