Last night, I was roaming around in northern Endor looking for some pets to tame. I was taking a break from hunting giant dune kimogilas, and wasn't planning on killing anything. But then it happened. I looked up and there he was,,,,,,,, the Gorax.
I throw a camp up, get out my three hunting cats and Sling-shot my trapping droid. And then the fun starts. Old mister big breeches never stood a chance.
At the end of the night, I had some nice new pets, a new badge, and a stack of Gorax loot.
Now that's what I call,,,
Good Hunting!

That big guy is my favourite target to bring crashing to the groud. I know just how you feel. Nothing like seeing him crumple over and cash in his chips.

A friend and I have made Gorax hunting a personal quest. We're trying to get good shards to have nice Featherweight FWG5s made. I know we could just by a nice gun, buy the shards or even better yet by reinforced casings that BH marks drop but that wouldn't be very Rangery now would it
So far we've had a lot of fun with it even though the best shards we've looted are 130.

Curious.. what else to you have template wise to compliment MCH/MR. I'm trying to build my pets up to be able to kill big creatures with MCH/MR

MCH/M Ranger/ marksman 0004/ BH 0300. This template works well for me. Unless my droid misses three P-darts in a row, and I miss mine too, I have no trouble with any creatures.

what stats are you pets? I was wondering about going MCH, but it seems that you can't tae big creatures. Please, tell us your strategy, your pets (stats, level, the whole bit), your traps, your armor...anything you can that will get me convinced that MCH/M Ranger is viable. for big game hunting and harvesting contracts.

My little army for big critter hunting is:
2 Greater Sludge Panthers --cl23
1 Crimson Razor Cat --cl24
(They are all 3 wild tames. I haven't trained any special abilities to them yet.)
1 R3 droid (1storage module, 2 trapping modules, 4 combat modules) He is loaded with P-darts. He does not actually attack the target, he only fires traps. I have him trained with a different attack command than my cats.
For big game, I start by tossing a glow-wire trap and and a P-dart from the droid. Start shooting from 48 meters with a carbine, getting the aggro on myself. After about 3 shots, I send in the pets.
While I'm fighting, I keep moving (staying at least 36 meters from the target. Keep track of the snare timer and hit the fire button macro in my hotbar at about 4 seconds before it runs out, the droid will toss the P-dart at about the same time as the first snare wears off. If he misses, I hit it again and toss one myself. If I or my pets take any damage, it is because either 3 traps in a row miss, or I just screwed up royally.
These tactics work great solo or with a ranged group. With a melee tank, the tank will keep the creature stationary and it will AOE the pets.
I plan on putting these special abilities on the cats:
GSP1 = Bleeding attack, Hamstring attack
GSP2 = Eye Gouge, Knockdown
CRC = Intimidate, Staggering attack
The first attacks will all have one command on all 3 cats (sa1). The second specials will be (sa2), i hope that this will help when the traps miss, to give a little extra time to stick another trap.
I hope this helps all the CH/Rangers out there.

Hmmmm.... never thought about 0030 BH. I just dropped my artisan and merchant for healing... I thought that maybe being able to heal my pets from range while they tank would be a good thing... but BH is intriguing now. Nice template choice. It seems I have some grinding to do lol. I have a greater sludge panther... and it rocks!!!! Being a weather nerd all of my pets have weather related names. My current cats are called GSP: Echo (for radar echo); BE'd Razor cat: Rain; Wrix: Cyclone. I know.. i'm a dork.

I have one question. What kind of Droid is this. I requested one from a Droid Maker, but she didn't know what i was talking about. Is it a special schematic that i have to buy or what?

reminds me of my night on endor...
went gorax hunting with guildies. We found one or two and killed em.I would always place a camp down so they could hang out while i searched for another gorax. After the second one, i plopped a camp down without thinking twice about the two blood-merek spawns less than 40m near and head off to look for the gorax. 2 min later i get a call for help, as the mereks decided they wanted the camp. Needless to say, a few slains and a bunch of dead mereks later, we prevailed like the heroes we were in defending our camp. There were merek bodies everywhere that night, and everyone loved it. We are planning another guild hunt soon, and we might go back to Endor for sh*ts and grins!

This is the exact template I was considering for Alarick. Nice to hear that it works pretty well. Thanks for sharing your experience!
