I created this character at noon on release day, and I haven't been bored ever since. Ranger was the first elite profession I mastered and probably my favorite of the 15 I've done. I have fond memories of sitting in camps in the most remote swamps of dathomir, with every sort of adventurer wandering through my camp and stopping for a chat. It took me the first four months of the game to master that profession, but I had more fun doing that then in the 8 months that would follow. I remember being halfway through the profession when they made the changes, and being as happy as I can remember. For once I was actually needed, tracking worked great (after a day or two) and I finally felt like a part of something.

After a month, and being turned down by the Antarian Rangers, I came to the inevitable conclusion that I should move on and ended up dropping ranger. Now, I've decided that it's time to put down the sword and return to the profession that I once loved so much.

I came back to this board expecting it to be like all the others, hologrinders, posts whining about what the Dev's are doing to fix the profession, demands to be PVP gods, or cries to nerf other professions. Instead, I came back to what I remember, a level headed community that asks nothing more then the Dev's listen to our view of what our profession should be. Rangers are just the way I remember them being, the most respectable profession in the SWG universe.

It's definitely time to come back.

I was actually considering doing Ranger/Squad Leader, how's that working out for you?

Well, I like it. But I'm quite odd. It means that you have almost no ability to survive when solo but it is fun when you get in a nice sized group. If you like going out and hunting all the time then it is probably not for you. If you don't mind being completely useless most of the time then it can be fun (you can still survive easily enough on Dathomir--you just can't fight there alone).

Likely not if you lack combat prof. When I mastered it my second time, I did it in two evenings. All I needed was a group so I could grab the rancor lairs, then I ran off. I found some random spawns of rancor and that helped immensily. It would've been a few hours if rangers were on Dath to train me

The survival was a matter of crafting camps with the bone/hide I harvested off rancor. The metal was a small issue such that I had a nice stack in my house. Had survival done in about 6 hours of crafting and 3 camps.

I would ace more squadrons if they'd just fix the remaster bug.

Welcome Back

Sorry about the Antarian Ranger thing, at that time we had illusions of "protecting" Jedi. Little did we know that many of them would be little snot-nosed kids on a power trip and demanding that we bow down to them and make alters and worship them as gods... sorry, still a tad bitter

Maybe the the "no-Imp" policy can be revisited now, but alas there have been many that have not logged in some time, so I don't know if there could be a full vote. You could go like Sven did and resign, as panifull as that is.

There are Imp orgs for Rangers in the EU, like the Imperial Sector Rangers and the Dark Rangers (Antarians that went to Dark force powers). None of those, however, seem to have found a foothold on Eclipse... or they have escaped our detection .

You are still always welcome to come hunt with us, sense we still have not been able to do much more then be the economies source of organics... and only a supplimental one at that. If only Rangers were more viable in PvP...someday maybe.

When you log in /chat join RIN. We usually are there, and is a point of contact for us. It's public, all are welcome. We use it a bit like a guildchat, sense some are actually in different guilds.

Ranger is not a profession. It's a lifestyle.
