Thread: Ranger's- New Idea that might work.
Not saying they are bad idea's mind you, just that they have been beat to death.

Hey there fellow rangers,
just thought of an idea while i was looking through the forums. Might be a little far fetched but here it goes.
Lets say your out hunting and you found a tuff animal or npc or whatever your fighting. Near you, you see a lair with animals. Now, lets say you approach the lair, making "friends" with the animals and have them help you kill whatever your after. So, in a way you would sort of act like a druid who can summon creatures to help him out.
That would be what a Creature Handler does. No dice.
Ok, my second idea would be creature harvesting certain materials from creatures while their alive. Sort of like lets say.. shaving wool of sheep. You could either do this in the wild, or gather fur from your pets.
For my last idea, how about farms? We rangers could set up pens to keep certain creatures in and we could stop by to milk or slaughter animals for meat and hide. Also, there could possibly be a way to have the animals reproduce after x amount of days. This would sort of be like the bio engineer but for rangers. You then could pick the best of the crop of your animals and reproduce the best of the best, thus creating a super breed or whatever you call it.
Try reading all those nifty threads at the top of the Ranger Forum. These idea's have been posted and talked about many, many, many times.
Anyway, those are my two cents. If you dont agree with them, then i hope they at least spark some idea in your head for future development.
Thanks!

I don't make friends with animals, I harvest them. I am not a druid, wrong game, no worshipping of trees and flowers.
If I wanted to be a farmer, I would be playing Sim-Farm.
Not new, not good, much discussed, shot down in flames already.

ouch.
The problem here is that there have been so many ideas proposed in the interim between the last publish which helped Rangers and this one, that almost EVERY idea has been beat to death.
That DOESN'T mean some of these people are aggrivating, since a LOT of the ideas they propose are in the "stickied" section of our board. But some ideas (like the farm one) haven't been discussed in a while and are lying at the back end of our board. It would take some hard-core 12-hour-a-day trolling to come across the old threads, with all their ideas.
Just sayin ya need to take it easy on the new kids, JB. I understand you're the grumpy old ranger sitting on the porch, waving his weapon at every young punk with their new-fangled vehicles and silly ideas, but it may be time to go inside, watch some daytime TV and relax. The porch will be fine without you =). Besides, we don't want you scaring off the other Rangers-- there's few enough of us as it is.
1. Probably not going to be well liked by the CH's of the world, but you can use factions to assist you in the wild. If you have high faction points, you can use that faction against anyone attacking you. Sometimes works, sometimes doesnt.
2. Everyone in the game can already sort of do this with the implementation of milking and crustaceans. While I am not exactly against this idea, I am definately for anything that gives Ranger another skill that works and is useful. Once again CH's and Bio Engineers have talked about this idea at depth, and in the end this might actually hurt Rangers.
3. BioFarms are a big topic in the BE and CH forums, and they are just looking to bypass Rangers all together. Not sure if that is wise for us as a group.

The first idea sounds interesting... Maybe like a variation on the Lure trap. Throw the trap on an animal and other nearby animals would be more likely to attack it. Its true though, this might step on the CH toes a bit.
Creature harvesting is a good idea too. Kind of like the milk idea, but add more options. You'd have to have an outlet though. For example, if you could gather fleece of wooly animals you'd want to add a schematic to tailor or something that requires fleece. They love/want new content/clothes so I don't htink they would mind. Or make it a required component in some special schematic everyone can get, like the backpacks that require heavy leather.
THe farm idea is good too. I actually can't remember the previous ideas but I know there have been a lot of good ones. I see this as more a CH type of thing though. A Rancher is, by definition, a creature handler. They would want us to come harvest their animals for them, or we could pay to do so. We'd be the "slaughterer." Ew.
