Thread: Coming back to game, is this a viable character concept?
Always envisioned my character as one of those Forward Recon Scouts, who moved ahead, scouted out positions, called back to headquarters with the info, and also was a sniper, who when there, and rest of the army was incoming, could soften up the enemy with a few well placed shots on commanders and such.
I know in game, it really does not work that way, but is there a way for the mechanics of everything to at least come close to that.
As far as how I was thinking of designing him. Was go Master Scout/Master Ranger/Rifle IV/Master Rifleman/Novice Medic.
Is this a plausable character, or am I just dreaming. I know pvp, really is not that much now. But would I be able to sneak up on Empireal Encampments, and do this, even if it is in my own head that I have a Rebel Unit coming to take the rest out.
Thanks

I would skip the master scout thing and go fornovice ranger and skip rifle iv and just go to novice rifleman. That way you can have more points to put into doctor by skipping all medic skills.

there are a lot of Ranger/ Riflemen (and Riflewomen) out there who swear by its amazing synergy..
pair yourself with a good melee fighter, and you have a very nice hunting team.
personally, i prefer melee, right now im a pikeman and i really like it.. someday i will try the rifleman skill, I hear its absolutely effective.
Of course I'm joking. I think its redundant when people give their template with their starting professions listed. For instance, instead of saying I'm a novice BH, you list that you're a master scout / master marksman / novice bh.

i've just been playing around with that template & it seems to work very well.
for the longest time i have been using master ranger/rifleman w/marksman 4114. the first boxes of pistol & carbine just to waste points that couldn't do anything else, but i have made a lot of use out of /warningshot. if you are in an all range-attack group it is good for keeping large single meelemobs from actually doing anything to your party.
i also like the defense & aimingbonuses. /shrug
Food buffs are the best for a rifleman - vasarian brandy and vagnerian (sp?) canape. If I take a double shot of brandy and one canape mu mind pool barely twitches (also a wookiee with med/high mind stats). That gets expensive though.
Rifleman is currently one of the most powerful professions in the game. I think you will have a lot of different play options open to you with this template. I've seen fun templates that mix Ranger with just about every profession though, so it is really what kind of combat you enjoy the most.
Thanks Calc, I'll look for Ahrisa.
