Well I finally did it. I dropped all of Ranger, because it seems that we're not gonna get anything for a long while and even then we're not gonna get traps in PvP, which is all i'm about. So i've dropped Ranger and Scout for Fencer.

Sorry everyone.

I can understand dropping Ranger, but all of Scout? I would at least keep the part that gives you terrain negotiation. I wouldn't like having to walk slowly up hill to catch a creature or in PvP.

Lemme get this straight. You invested 77 skill points into scout plus whatever you had in ranger, andall you care about is pvp?

This is why we have to fight people, no matter what our goal is for theranger profession.Everytime one of us drops it comes a little harder for us.

And yet another Ranger wanders off into the sunset of his professional life to start on the path of a new career......

I feel ya there Sirobi. I am trying everything I can not to give up Ranger. I am now trying to wring out every last drop of worthfulness from Ranger as I can. I am trying to make sure that I harvest atleast 10k each day and I am also making sure that I go to Yavin and track atleast 1 spawn of Black Sun. This is not because I particularly enjoy harvesting or even getting the Black Sun loot. (I already have the full suit) but so that I keep the skills in action. I figure if I use atleast 2 of the skills on a daily bases, then it will be harder for me to justify giving them up.

I would say though, that the ability to solo loot good items from high-end npc's or mobs that you get with a primarily combat oriented template is so tempting it makes me want to scream. I have a friend that is a Master TKA, Master Swordsman,Master Brawler and dabbler in Fencer that can solo the Geo Cave Acklye by himself. He can stand toe to toe with a Kryat for an absurd amount of time and has no real problems in the DWB unless he gets more than 3 SBD's on him along with the lesser spawn. This makes looting not much of a chore for him. I see how long it will be before the CB will be instituted and I realise just home much time and opportunity he has to not only amass a large amount of valuable items, but also enjoy higher end content without having to trouble himself with finding a good group in which to try these areas.

Then I look at my own template of Ranger/Rifleman and kinda sigh....Pride is a very expensive habit to maintain when you factor in the monthly cost, the actual game time invested and the overall potential of your character to accomplish whatever adventure strikes your fancy for the day. I look at it from the stand point that, if I wish to be able to go and try my hand at the Night Sister Stronghold, I either need a group or I need to give up my rifleman ability for a Melee combat profession. My friend on the other hand needs merely obtain appropriate buffs and a ticket to Dathomir to accomplish the same thing. The geo cave is the same situation. As well as all the other higher end dungeons. Sad things is, if he had scout skills as well i would not be able to beat him in a harvesting race. I would have the clear advantage when it came to amounts harvested per creature, but he would have me beat hands down when it came to amount of creatures killed in a given time frame.

Well, ultimately it is my choice on going to another profession or not. Or, even staying with the game at all. Unfortunantly I have already invested so much time, money and effort into my character that it depresses me greatly to have to give up the only template I actually wanted just so I can have something to do other than being an intelligent harvesting droid or PVP hound. Guess I will just have to decide what matters more to me...getting the most out of the investment I make in this game or gratifying my own pride and ego by remaining a Ranger even when it brings me little real satisfaction or reward.

Actually, screw my first post. I am not giving up something I worked so hard for. If I really need to adventure so badly I will retire this character and create one on a separate account before I give up even one skill box. I will not feel like I am forced to choose a path I reallydo not want simply so that I might prosper. Ranger for Life........
