Thread: A day I truly felt like a Ranger

I dropped Ranger completely and most of Scout awhile back for some dabbling fun but after all that I find that Ranger suits me best. So, I decided to go back to 0-0-4-0 for tracking, creature info and harvesting. The only real useful part of our tree.

Anyway, once I make it back to Master Scout the run to the Ranger trainer was great. I was never so happy to get back to being a Ranger.

Yesterday I made it to to the top of the Harvesting line and was continuing my hunt for wild meat on naboo. I had donned my Tracker tag and went about gleefully using areatrack to find ikopi and rabid shaupauts. Just as I look at it I see at the top of the list! Peko Peko Albatross! Whoa! My stomach went cold and I set off in that direction.

When I got there I seen another guy sitting there watching it. He had a Tera Kasi Mystic tag on and we talked briefly about killing it. Well, with 100% kinetic resists he pulls out hs rifle as I am testing it with /concealshot. Neither of us are buffed and I am doing nicely between maskscent and /concealshot til he opens fire and gets it to area attack us both. Unbuffed, we both died. lol

So, I made a waypoint before cloning. I healed up quick and ran back unbuffed. The big bird was still there once I arrived and I poped some muon and /concealshotted it and peaced out to heal my stats from my specials. I finally killed with the use of my acid rifle. I harvested 900 bones from it! But alas no loot.

So, I pitched a camp to let my spice wear off then I would be back to the grind of wild meat collection. Then as I was about to set out again another spawned! Woot! So, I did the same tactics.... I killed it and looted for a whopping 9 feathers. I rarely get loot so I was pleased. I get nothing out of it tho since I will hand them over to my guild armorsmith. Free of charge.

And as I left again a 3rd spawned. I left it there since I wasnt greedy.

Extremely pleased I knock off early on wild meat hunting to head to Endor to collect some insect meat. I know better here.. I get buffed and head out with my 70% kinetic ubese and start collecting meat. I only did two lairs but just in an hour I collected 6500 units of meat. More than enough for my needs. What got me is how much I enjoyed running around and targeting any spiders or mites in the area. Mask Scent only broke twice and I dispatched each spider quickly with only one bout of poison.

When I reached the top of one mountain and the sun began to set. The gentle music changing the scene changed and I was just in awe of how great it felt to be standing surrounded by wild creatures watching the sunset totally alone in the wilderness. I was giddy from the enjoyment of it. It was as if the nature of the planet accepted my presence there. To walk amongst so many vicious creatures untouched was truly a great feeling.

I truly felt like a Ranger that day.

Keep having fun.

Yeah, I just picked up an order for 40 cpu for endorian insect meat. Gonna try for a 100k stack. That should pad the pocket a bit.

I was a Master Ranger/Master TKA on my first character on Eclipse. I loved it, but I grew tired of it and went to a combat-oriented character. Reading that, its tempting me...it really is...The way you worded that was awesome.

Well.. I'm new to the rangering gig. Was going to go master rifleman/master ranger, but one of my other chars is already master rifle so I figure I ain't doing that grind twice.

Aaanyway. Pikeman/Ranger here.

On the subject... For me nothing puts a smile on my face more than my spot on Naboo.

Found it one day way back when. Was running missions out of Moenia one time, finished 'em and then thought what should I do next? So I set out and decided to walk to Deeja Peak. Thankfully I had explore 4 back then so made it in pretty good time... And while the lake and the falls at Deeja blew me away, there was one spot that I keep comming back to. It's sort of a ledge on the top of a hill overlooking a long valley. I've gone up there to sit and think many a time. It's peaceful. About 1 to 1.5k away from deeja towards Moenia... If you pass by it, I'm sure you'll recognise it. The view is almost as breathtaking as the view of the lakes further on.

Reminds me of my first day playing the game. I picked up Novice Scout (was heading for Master Ranger/Master CH at the time) and landed in Moenia onNaboo. I grabbed asingle long distance delivery mission and just started walking (not knowing that I could get two). I spent the whole day just walking around. I'm not sure if I even killed anything at all (I didn't pick up Novice Marksman until about 2 weeks in--I was hunting on Dathomir before I ended up getting a novice skill other than Scout). I fell in love with the game within that one day. I especially loved the spawn system. I wish the spawn rates would go back to that level. It wasn't excessive but the world felt alive. I did the same trip not too long back and saw maybe 20 spawns total. Still a lot of fun, though.

Sounds great mate.

Theresa fewold memories that stay with me to this day and probly always will, one of which is:

The Nubian System Hunt:

I will never forget the time when i was new to the game playing my ranger. I was only low level ranger/rifle at the time about 2/3 weeks in from launch and was taking my first hunting experdition with my friend.

We started 'life' on tatooine and had never traveled away from there whilst we were leveling, the swg universe seemed alot bigger back then and tat seemed to go on forever. We had seen the pictures and decided to go on a nubian system hunt experdition.

We traveled first to rori where weran (yes ran, no bikes back in the day you see)around thefoggy junglesin search of dangerous animals, well it wasnt long before we were getting chased by leviaqualls through an old mossy swamp. We were so terrified that these giant rabbits that were as big as us wouldnt stop chasing us.

After a few hours of exploration we headed back to narmle amazing at this new place we had seen, stunned by the animals we had faught and killed. The next step, the mountains of naboo.

We didnt have any money to travel from keren to dejee peak so we had to run it. We had see the pictures on the loading screen of deeja and just had to take a look. When we arived we entered where the shuttleport is by running along side the lake, our jaws dropped. It was just sunrise and we had been running through the night. The sun was coming up over the top of the waterfall illuminating the great lake we were resting next to. The beutiful bridge glowed like a beacon and called us to cross it.

We hadnt even entered the town yet and we were going crazy, it looks so beutiful. After walking around the town admiring the views we ended up standing on the balcony of the theatre over looking a great valley. We watched the clouds roll in andRAIN!!!! (it neverrained on tat and some how didnt whilst we were on rori hehe)so hard but the rain made the place much more atmospheric, it was like standing in a deserted town high in the mountains during a thunderstorm with no one to help you, great times.

Ill always rememeber standing on that balcony during the thunder storm admiring the new sites.

Thanks for bringing back these memories. Good times back when money didnt mean a think, xp wasnt an issue, and you could take pride in killing a huge torton.
