Thread: Profit Earning Potential Pretty Good For Rangers?

Is there still a good strong demand for the old standbys bone, hide, and meat? I'm wondering how good a Master Ranger's earning capacity is.
Do most of you use thebazaar to sell, or do you make contacts and network to sell to private individuals ala 'contract?'
I'm wondering how hard it would be to find somebody who wants what you've got; I suspect that if you're selling grade-A components, there's always a market someplace... just a matter of finding it

The demand for organics will always be there. We are doing quite well thank you.

Yes "potential" is the word though. You have to riggle into the nitch. For the most part, and esp for rangers, its not just any resource but the specific ones crafters want, and only when they are high quality.
Want you want to do is find some customers who will come to you when they need some of what ever the good spawn is on your server. Charge decent but fair prices and harvest your hinee off. If you're smart, you get groups or sub contractors to help you, possible put a profit for yourself in it.
So yes the potential is there. When I was running my ranger group, soon to return, at the hi point of it, I was over 5 mil. Now the hunting was pretty much my only source of incom at that point, and that was buying lots of travel tickets, constantly stalking stims and buying new weapons every month or so.

Myself as a 4040 ranger, I find it easy to make quick money (I mean... monkey...). There was a good spawn of Gleboi Yavin Wooley a few weeks ago, and I was running low on money, so I got buffed (unneccesary, but I didnt know what kinda critters I would be killing) and went and looked around for the Gleboi, and found it in those ape things. Hunted for a bit over an hour, with Vegash, and i had aboutt 15k Hide, sold it for 100cpu to an AS and bam, there is 1.5m creds in just over an hour, that all i needed at the moment, but now im running low again so I might look into a new good spawn.
Making money is easy and fun for a ranger. (Keep in mind im also a Master Pistoleer, for the combat aspect)

I am making monkey hand over fist and laffing quite a bit.
Standard schedule -
Get on before work thing intrudes upon my life - check harvestors, store items for sale on the weekend. Run two quick FP missions, to pay for the harvestor upkeep. Now all sales are profit.
Apres the work thing - Run a quick mission and donate it to the city. Grab two missions, this time for harvest. 12k in the pocket, plus meat or hide or bone. Repeat 2x. 36k in pocket, 3k organics,
Weekend - sell mineral and chemical stuff we have harvested for ridiculously low prices, like 2cpu. Unless it is great stuff, then price to what the going rate is. If good organics are dropping, go forth and harvest. Sell at market rate, or horde - the missions pay you anyhow.
Now to spend money - 11k on a new weapon - once every other week. 5k on powerups. 25k on food buffs, to share too. Didn't die, don't need new clothes. No armor. No doc buffs.
And the rest of the guild wonders why I have so much cash laying around.
And how I can give stuff away.

What charls said is fact.....We have our hunters needs cared for and in return they hunt for us to fill the contracts and like JBMatt said....they "Have money just laying around" to do with as they please....
If the hunters and other members hunt, they have no reason to be poor or just scraping by.....as long as components and finished goods require hides, meat, and bone...there will always be a need for a "Super-Scout"

Yeah, its Easy when I good spawn of Wooly or Avian meat comes by and The animals dropping it do it in large qtys. On Bloodfin there was a spawn of Wool going for 150 cpu, I harvs about 100k of it in the 2 weeks spawn, Sold it off for over 10mil. It will keep me good to go for awhile. All about how much time you want to put in.

Now, however, as a member of a hunting Guild and head the Animal Resources Dept,I have clients that order resources in 100k stacks minimum. I pay all our huntersextremely well no matter how small the stack they deliver.
I sell to our clients at a small markup for the guild's expenses.

Seriously though, being a Ranger and Hunter-for-Hire is just great, I get paid (twice assuming i can get missions for the creature that will give me the resource I seek) for doing my favourite thing
