Hello fellow Rangers,

A guilde needed a Kryat tissue so he asked me to come help his group find a Kryatt in Tatooine. Cool I said, I helped other find Black Sun Spawns before and I had never seen a Kryatt dragon so I figured It would be a great experience.

So off I went to the Kryatt gravayrd and a started tracking. I searched the whole area from the POI waypoint all the way NE to the end of the map but I couldn't find one. Was I in the wrong place or is there some special technique besides using /areatrack ?

I did finaly see a Kryat, One spawned since my freiend did the "Buried Treasure" quest and It was a fun fight. I am a little disappointed that I could not use my Tracking skills to find thenm one though. Does anyone have any advice on tracking these dragons?

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the Ranger profession...heh. You did nothing wrong; that is the nature of the beast. Tracking can only find what has already spawned. Since Krayts are relatively rare as it is, you have the added bonus of waiting for a rare critter to spawn before you can track it. FWIW, only once in my career have I successfully tracked a Krayt before my group found it themselves.

Try going 500-1000 meters southwest of the POI also... and west.. east.. well, all over.
Get on your swoop bike and travel about 400m between tracking.

Also, don't be surprised if you track one and get to the location but find nothing. They despawn often. As for the treasure chest krayts, I've heard they don't drop loot so people can't force a spawn to get pearls.

Nothing wrong with what you were doing, its just that to date we can not track anything thats not already spawned. As far as technique, either you or a group hop on your speeder(s) and drive around hoping to force a spawn.

I've managed to track about 3 before my team found them... It was pretty cool since I got some good kudos from the team, but it was after about an hour or so of coming up with nothing and feeling mighty low.

Tracking rare critters is time consuming. I did a 2 hour search last night and not a single albatross. Don't let lack of success deter you.

I used to find them untouched all the time. Although this was before speeders and cities were around. The most interesting place I've found a spawn was 200m from a static cloning center. Krayts were even easier to solo back then and yet less camped. Ah, the good old days...

What's even wierder is back around release you could find krayts near jabbas. Seen a couple and ran for my life but I haven't seen any there since about 1 month after release.

The area around Wayfar was my favorite krayt hunting ground for a while after release. Krayts used to spawn everywhere on Tatooine (I've seen them in most wilderness areas of the planet, N, E, S, and W). Now it's hard to find them even in the Graveyard. I really wish the spawn system would go back to its former loveliness.

It takes a lot of patients to track Krayt. Most of the time I dont have trouble finding them, I just have trouble finding them before another group does. Just keep at it and I'm sure one will appear before you.
