Well I'm glad the devs upped the amount of eggs you can get from lairs and made creature samples much less frequent. But that kind of begs the question, why did they leave these creature samples in the game at all? They have no purpose, they are immediantly destroyed, so why keep them in? Just take the things out of the game completely. Or, better yet, (gasp) give them a purpose! I don't know what the purpose would be, but something more than junk to destroy would be a start. Just my 2 cents.

Yes, creature habitat is something a low level artisan can make, but it doesn't do anything. It looks exactly like a locked container. You can release the creatures from it, and it looks like little butterflies coming out for a few seconds. But honestly, what in the world is that? Maybe if the actual container looked like animals it would make a nice decoration, but as it is, its just junk to be destroyed.

I don't think it needs to be taken out. I enjoy it once in a while to let some butterflies fly around me. If you don't like it destroy it but it wont hurt to be in the game.

in the grand scheme of things? Lots more stuff I want the devs to concentrate on other than removing our equivalent of "dang, got another CDEF from the meatlump".

Actually the effect is still in game. And in some cases like the glow bugs its a pretty cool effect. It exists to give you something pretty to look like. And really has no other function then that. I think the easier fix would be to change the locked container to a cage or a new piece of artwork to encourage us to collect them.

I thought creature samples could be used by bio-engineers? And yeah, creature habitats - collect half a dozen, wander into your local packed cantina and release.

Creature Habitats rock. I have a smelly freind the loves the flies. Every once in a while I release a few bats after screaming "OGM Killer Bats RUN!", in Theed or some place like that. Sometimes you get a n00b or two the /burstruns away, mwahahha.
If you want to keep them and not have them take up all kinds of space, get a stack of mineral and chemical. Take one of each sample to an artisan and have them make a schem for each. The samples don't have serial numbers so each schem is good for 1000 or untill your materials run out. Have them put the name of the creature in the name of the habitat or you won't know what kind it is in the case. I ended up using them or giveing them away before I've ever goten more than 25 in a case so I can't tell you how big the cases are. But if you leave them in the output hopper its basicly free storage.

I have never tried this out, but it should work:
An Artisan can create a "Creature Habitat", which needs creature samples like butterflies. They can be released, causing a nice graphical effect.
Maybe someone with Artisan skills can confirm this?

I dont think thats in the game, still or at all. At least Ive never seen a creature habitat in any schematics or skill trees.
