(annoying kids in the back seat kind of feeling) getting a "have you found it yet?" tell every 3 minutes gets on my nerves real quick.
LMAO... so true.
Now, to the point of the thread... I definitely suggest doing some searches on the ranger board as there have been several very good threads on this topic with lots of great insight.
My short version... you get paid to use your /areatrack ability and not your /findanythingrightnow command... Therefore, I typically charge by the hour. 500k an hour has become my new standard but that varies. If I know I can find it quick (e.g. sintrail prowler) I might charge 500k up front and 500k upon find... and this is mostly to compensate for the fact that the only reason I am efficient is because I am a skilled ranger with specifically good knowledge on a particular creature, which deserves compensation.
In the end, charge what makes you feel right. If you're perfectly happycharging 150k per find, then great. In my experience, there was a direct correlation between 3 factors: Increased tracking jobs leads to increased tracking jadedness which inevitably leads to higher prices.
Again, search the forums... lots of great discussion on this topic.
Cheers
It is exactly like the kids in the back seat screaming, "Are we there yet?" It gets really old, really fast. They don't seem to understand that it is my time they're wasting while they happily play whack-a-bol in the meantime. They also have no concept that they may not get what they want. Bunch of...
/wanders off grumbling about kids who get everything they want without working for it
For "rare" spawns, ie Jedi trials, Hero of Tat, I charge a fee of 500k every 1.5 hours. Works out to 1 mil a buff session. If they want my help fighting, they also pay for my buffs.
For an organic contract, (meat, hide, bones, eggs, milk) I usually won't take the contract unless I'm getting at least 60cpu. I'd rather hunt at my leisure and end up with a bunch of different meat I can sell at 10-30 cpu, then have to concentrate on one planet, on one type of creature, for hours or days on end to get some guy 60k of Avian Meat.
Other spawn tracking, It depends on my mood. If a CH asks me to help them track down a rare baby, I'll usually do it for free. Most CH's are smart, know what they're doing, and are fun to go out into the wilderness with.
