  • Question: Where is camping going?

  • Answer: Camping seems to have left us as there has been no notable points in the revamp doc plus the tiers dont seem to support it. Where are camps will go remains a mystery, but possibly if the devs do decide to move camps they will go to SL (rally points, group support etc) or Scout.


If you guys are having problems realizing what good camps can provide, I know it has been posted many times in the ranger forums. But heres a couple ideas that could make Camps a "NEED" and a "WANT" to have by both Rangers as well as Groups.



Basic Camp Kit


+5 to Self-healing and Buffing, +5 Self-camoflage, +5 Self-Mask Scent


Seating for 1


Camp lasts for 10 Minutes after you leave, before it becomes abandoned. Restarts timer whenscout comes back to camp







Multi Person Camp Kit


+10 to Self-Self-Healing and Buffing, +10 Self-camoflage, +10 Self-mask scent


Seating for 3


Camp Lasts for 20 Minutes after you leave, before it becomes abandoned. Restarts timer whenscout comes back to camp







Improved Camp Kit


+15 to Self-Healing and Buffing, +15 Self-Camoflage, +15 Self-Mask Scent


Seating for 5


Camp lasts for 30 minutes after you leave, before it becomes abandone. Restarts timer whenscout comes back to camp







High Quality Camp Kit


+10 to Group-Healing and Buffing, +10 Group-Camoflage, +10 Group-Mask Scent


Seating for 8


Jukebox (45 minute Entertainer buff)


Mission Terminal (1 Mission only per player)


Camp lasts for 45 Minutes after you leave, before it becomes abandoned. Restarts timer when ranger comes back to camp







Field Base Kit


+20 to Group-Healing and Buffing, +20 Group-Camoflage, +20 Group-Mask Scent


Seating for 8


Jukebox (45 Minute Entertainer Buff)


Mission Terminal (1 mission only per player)


Faction Mission Terminals (1 mission only per player, based on faction of Ranger which terminal comes up)


Camp lasts for 1 hour after you leave, before it becomes abandoned. Restarts timer when ranger comes back to camp







High Tech Field Base Kit (MOVED TO MASTER RANGER)


+30 to Group-Healing and Buffing, +30 to Group-Camoflage, +30 Group-Mask Scent,


Seating for 8


Jukebox (45 Minute Entertainer Buff)


Mission Terminal (1 mission only per player)


Faction Mission Terminals (1 mission only per player, based on faction of Ranger which terminal comes up)


Shuttleport Pickup (only available for pickup back to starport or city shuttleport)


Cloning Center (able to store clone data in camp, if camp is disbanded, automatically clone at nearest cloning center)


Insurance Terminal


Camp lasts for 2 hours after you leave, before camp becomes abandoned. Restarts timer when ranger comes back to camp







There are so many options for camp kits that could make these things So dang valuable to groups as well as Rangers.

i think these are great ideas...

the only thing i would critique would be the jukebox idea.. if camps were to provide a buff for entertainers, make it so that the xp gained while getting a buff in a cantina 10% and in a camp, it would be 9%or something like that (its not a completely thought out idea) but that would provide an incentive for entertainers to be out in groups with people as well.

I seem to remember reading that camps are being moved to scout. They're not being eliminated. I would assume all the camps will be condensed down to six. One at novice, one for each of the boxes in the branch, and one at master scout. That is just my take, however. Nothing official.

Me personally I would love to keep the advanced camps in Ranger.

I think they should intragate(sp?) the ranger camps, especialy the HTFB into the new ranger. According to helios we're supposed to be self-sufficent, and what better way than being able to quickly construct a small base of operations or just a small place to sleep while on the move.

We will need to experiment and customize our traps. I assume at this point, we will need a crafting station. That makes the HTFB that much more valuable. Sure, you can get a droid with the crafting mod, but I would still use my own HTFB.

I am not sure how many entertainers are combat ready. I see a lot of low levels and a very few high level (meaning CL) out there. I frequently hit Dath for long hunts can be out there 3 days before i decide to head back. Having a mechanical means for a buff would be nice for those concerned with xp bonuses but absolutely not necessary for me now as i am capped on everything.


As far as uses for camps after the revamp. I think small groups will need them as having a doc (ranger) temp is probably not going to be effective. Camps will be the only means for groups to heal damage if they intend to stay "in the bush" I just think the camps can be made extremely useful escpecially with the "covert" vision the dev's seem to have for Ranger at this point.

Well currently, the entertainers are buffing for close to Three (3) Hours, so having a jukebox in a HTFB that is providing 30-45 minute buff should be sufficient enough to hold over a Ranger, or small party from having to leave such places as Dathmir to fly all the way to another planet, find and entertainer, get a buff, then fly all the way back to Dathmir, then drive all the way out to wherever your party is to rejoin them.


If Rangers are truely supposed to be self-sufficient, they ought to be able to forage for buffs that are worth more then they currently are, heal their own wounds in a camp over time, recieve small entertainer buff in their camp for a shortened period of time, Experimenting with their own traps on their crafting stations. Hey we can even throw in a small factory into the HTFB kit, to produce a crate or two of traps while were out in the field, but make it so that the HTFB takes up one Lot or something,


But regardless, I think that the High Tech Camps should remain in Ranger skills.
