will our crafted trap crates convert? how about my camps? I have at least 30 crates of each kind of traps and master camp, when this all goes down will I lose all that stuff to a nerf or will it convert over?

One more thing that kinda of bothers me is that since we will no longer be using our traps against creatures how will we be able to use them against players if we can't use them in city limits? Almost all the pvp i have done is within a city limit.

The whole bio linking a trap dosen't make sence to me either. What is the point of that? if I can't us ethem while using the H.E.P then why even have em?

Timing triggers, and motion sencors seem wack as well. What am i going to be doing ? sitting out in the woods in a camp with a motion sensor and traps and wait for someone to show up cause i can't use them in a city?

All of this sounds like it should be part of bounty hunter. I mean almost everyone of these new ideas seem like some sort of skill thatBoba Fett would have. Hunting and traping people with various mines and traps, hiding and being all stealthy and using kamino darts,,,everything ,,it all seems like it should be part of BH.

Seriously though what is the point of having these traps but not being able to use them in a city,,what am i gonna have to do?get a guy to chase me outside of town to an area i loaded with traps?"hey you chase me over here!"that will toatly limit our pvp. It's all just kinda flimsy sounding to me. I have been waiting for something , anything to change with this prof but this seems to still need to be revised.

There has been no official word on this. However, nothing is really changing about traps or camps, except where you get the certs to use them, so I'd assume that there is not even going to need to be a conversion. Essentially, all they're doing is changing the modifiers that let you use certain traps and camps to the lower tiers, so nothing is changes except your own skillsheet, not the camps/traps.

Ranger and scout traps (the current ones) will still be useable against creatures and only against creatures. But the new ones are going to be placed in the wilderness, around bases and stuff. We've also been trying to ensure that those traps will work against creatures, because it's much better that way. I suspect the reason we won't be able to use them in cities will be because it's tied to the house-placing code. I can imagine placing a mine might be a lot like placing a house, and you'll have "trap lots" like housing lots, so you can only place so many traps.

You don't have to bio-link them. They can be simply proximity mines, or you can sneak up to people while invisible and place and invisible mine at their feet. I haven't seen anything that suggests you can't place traps while camo'd. Technically speaking, it's not a combat action, it's a pre-combat action. You're not using a special, you're placing something on the ground. Since it's not classified as a special, I'm guessing you'll be able to place them down.

Well then you must not know about the Antarian Rangers. Check the stickies at the top of the Ranger forum for access to information about what Rangers were and did in the Star Wars universe. Jango never placed traps, he shot darts. He never snuck around, he simply shot from Range then fled. He's more like a Rifleman with /cover than a troop who sneaks right past you into your base. Bounty Hunters are more direct combatants than people who sneak around. Jango never hid once.

While the restrictions do seem odd, I believe they are tied to other systems that can't be changed. There is also likely a danger of people placing mines right where people load from starports and shuttleports. Mines are just load-kills waiting to happen. But remember that there is a lot of content that doesn't happen in cities. Most BH NPC missions spawn in the wilderness, for example. I suspect at one point there will be more bases outside of city limits, and thus Rangers will be able to protect them.

You should check out the "Revamp FAQ" post by Owen-Lars as well as the post that describe what an Antarain Ranger was. Demolitioins was part of their skillset and perhaps if you knew more about the inspiration for the new Ranger, you'd understand why these are Ranger skills as oopsed to skills for the other classes. Anyway, I hope I was able to answer your questions.

This is horrible! I return to find my new title on the forum is "Jedi". What's up with that? If they wanted to confer that I'm rare and learned, they'd make my title RANGER. and then make it camo colored.

It looks like they will just be certed to scout. No conversion necessary.

The devs are looking into whether we can use them on critters. The jury is still out.

Say you are out hunting Mokks and there are Jantas near the Mokk camp. If you don't biolink the traps to the Mokks, the Jantas will trip your traps. Just one example.

Maybe I missed something, but how do you know you can't set or trigger your traps while using the H.E.P.?

Timing triggers, I agree may not have a huge purpose in the game. We'll have to see what may be in store for those. As for motion sensors...not everything in the game is geared toward typical PvP. However, setting up sensors while helping your jedi friend hunt is one use. Another is for capture the flag role-play events. Again, just a few examples.

I would have to disagree. Boba Fett relied oncommunications and contacts to get his job done.He used snare nets, dartsand other means, but nothinglike these field traps that are proposed. He used resources, like dragging along a ranger for hire with the kinds of skills we are being given. He even used Darth Vader to get to Han Solo.
