Thread: Why not RangedSupport IV pre-req? Forget the midget Carbine!

Oppse I mean Little gun Carbine!...I don't want to offend the carbineers and their weee little guns,OK!... after that hmm just read the title! I'm Lazy.

With the RangedSupport Marksmen Pre-req then we rangers can keep the much wanted, and much needed(at least by me) Combat mods. That just seems to make more sense... that way rangers will be able to pick their weapons.... The melee rangers are still left high and dry though....

Yeah, a lot of people agree with you. Some don't. There are a bunch of threads out there where a bunch of people are actively discussing this. I recommend the "Give me carbines or give me death" and "we do NOT want carbines" thread, those seem to havethe most responces.

This is horrible! I return to find my new title on the forum is "Jedi". What's up with that? If they wanted to confer that I'm rare and learned, they'd make my title RANGER. and then make it camo colored.

I would like to know if there has been any word from a DEV that they are considering a Ranged Support IV + Trapping IV pre-req instead of forcing us into carbines.

That pre-req combo ^ makes about 1000times more sense than carbines.

I know of the other posts... But none that activly compare carbines to midgets, thus mine is unique? Those posts just get so filled though and you can read posts in them all day.... I like starting anew so i don't have to search through 9+ pages of posts.

the only reason i can think of is to get more people using carbines and less using rifles, it also fits well with some of the new additions to the ranger tree. a ranger who is detected can be more useful with the crowd control aspect of carbineer.

You must've missed the other threads where they politely point out that your method would make the requirements identical to Bounty Hunters. Would you like to talk to the Bounty Hunter forum about how much more they'd like to be nerfed?

i dont understand how having the same pre-req's would be nerfing bh, but it must not be too bad over there since bh is the most played profession in the game

if Ranger/BH have the exact same pre-reqs, it will make that template FOTM, with 66 skillpoints left open if both are mastered. If something is overpowered, then it will be changed (read: nerfed) to accomodate. Thus BH/Ranger will nerfed...unless they implement the RS IV/ Trapping IV idea we've come up with.

Just posted this in the "give me Carbines..." thread.

The problem with using a brawler tree is that you wind up pigeon holing certain players - which is precisely what were discussing trying to avoid.

If you use unarmed, you are basically enforcing Ranger/ TKM templates, 1Hand enforces Ranger/ Fencer.

See where I'm going? The problem is that the brawler profession doesn't have a "generic" tree like Ranged Support in marksman.

I was thinking and I'm betting the biggest reason for them trying to pick a weapons specific prereq is because Ranger as it stands to be revamped wouldn't be getting its xp from scouting anymore, so what will the new Rangers use for xp?
