Thread: Who has the best /rescue story?

I'll start.

1. - Rescued our combat medic from 6 or 7 Giant Baz Nitches. We blew up lair when massive lag hit and when it caught up he had a TON of Baz's eating him. He can't run because all terrain skill has been removed for CM skill (he's AWESOME at it!). So I used /rescue and they all came at me. With Ranger superspeed I was able to hit afterburners and they followed me, leaving him clear. Then I ran backto find one had switched back to him, I used a phecnacine dart on the Baz and we kept running. Happy ending!

2 - I /rescued my friend's pig. Ok, it's a Desert Razorback. Not the most powerful creature, but he has character (I know, dog's are supposed to have more character. And pigs are not filthy animals.). Rescued pig from about 4 male snorbals, which I can outrun without even bursting. I love that pig, I couldn't let him be eaten.

Anyone have cool /rescue stories? I LOVE that ability!

Yp,

One of my buddies was talking about how much of a badass he is at PvP. So my wife, Daria, got annoyed and challenged him to a duel (we are all friends here...it was more a joke than anything else). He's a Bounty Hunter, she was a Pistoleer.

He, of course, started talking smack about how no ex-dancer was going to take him down, yada yada yada. So they start dueling. He starts hitting her good, but she holds her own.

So I run over, and start rescueing her. Everytime he tries to shoot, his target shifts to me and he can't get the shot off. She proceeds to beat his ass.

It was amusing.

Especially his reaction when I told him what i did.

well I'm kinda ashemed of this one but here it goes.

My and about 10 guildies are in Lok's star port getting missions for snorbals. This kid comes up to us and ask for an invite, we as mild mannered as we could explain to him that it was a guild thing and we wanted to keep it that way. Well he proceeds to call us elitist and some other names, althought they werent xxx names they were mean in nature. Well we finally got all our missions and left for the hunt. The kid follow us and evertime we engage our target he he engages it too in some occasions stealing my harvest. well I finally got fed up and ask my guildies to to peace oput on the next elder snorbal. My guildies dont even know about the rescue command. well there he is fighting the elder all by himself (and doing pretty good I have to admit) BUt here comes Ranger Pyu with /rescue. I rescue the snorbal and iincap the guy( didnt DB him) then the guy starts sending me nasty tells wish I ignore and proceed to DB him( for the insults) The bnest thing was the amazement of my guildies "man thats a nice skill" or "man I relly need to get that skill"

well thats it maybe not too funny, and maybe a little griefing but hey the force gave the rangers /rescue for a reason, we better use it.

I'm unclear on something. how long does /rescue last? Will I need to hit it repeatedly to help a person/critter?

Yet another shady use of /rescue

Long post but I think it's a good story. Read at own discretion. BTW, I know this tactic is questionable and if you don't agree with it please do not flame. Constructive criticism will get you much further.

Atthe Rebel Base on Rori there are usually a few Rebs doing some destroy missions on their own. I heard of a few "useful" tricks with /rescue so I decided to get into true Ranger form - I hunted them. Tracking them at the very edges of my radar, I would circle around to their target's side - in all the cases it was my imperial brethren. If I felt that there was time, I would send them a /tell from the shadows warning them not to attack the imperials. They ignored it every time, and as soon as they would attack I would run forward and use /rescue to incap them.

Walking slowly like an NPC deathblow, I would walk right up to them and say something like, "These hills belong to the Empire. Do not attack any more Imperials or I will kill you." Then I always add "Rebel Scum" or somthing like that. Some guys take it well, others, however...

I never track the same PC twice, to avoid the obvious repurcussions. Those that accepted the Incap in good graces were let go... with a warning. Those that sent nasty tells were executed immediately. After a dozen successful hunts, the Rebels teamed up. They were scared to run missions alone. My job got tougher, now forced to attack groups.

One memorable battle was 3 Rebs hunting ME after a botched /rescue, a turn of events I did not care for. Using a combination of two burst runs (the battle was THAT long) and maskscent, I managed to pull multiple aggresive creatures to them... heh, heh. The final showdown was in an imperial camp. I was near dead and out of options, and the third covert member had yet to attack me so I could not kill him. He accidentally shot one of the Imperials... I win =).

I have hunted the forests of Rori for many days now, and many Rebels on Flurry server now loathe me. But know this - I did not do it to be mean. I was role-playing, protecting my Empire, and doing a **edit** good job of it. Sorry for the long post, but I like to tell this story.

Actually did it today. There was this one guy harassing this newbie. Challenged the newb to a duel, with rules...unarmed only. Mr big guy decides he's going to whip out a pistol, bleed the newb and run in a building. Not cool at all. He bled him, and bled him good (luckily there were medics everywhere at the time). I /rescue the newb, and the little whippersnapper tears the bully up, complete with DB (which everyone was chanting at the time). Nobody but us knows how it happened, but there is now one less newb and one less bully.

That's pretty bad play on your side. You are using exploit no one else has and it's pretty sad that you can't declare and fight face-to-face.

So far have only used it to rescue docs in heated battles. I'm not sure how this "feels" to the doc, but usually when I ask if they noticed, I get "oh, is that what happened?"

I hope to remember to try this very soon.

I used it once on a player that was at the Corellian rebel base. He was an imperial that managed to exploit the walls of the building somehow and was shooting at rebel NPCs all while being protected by the walls from incoming fire. Poor NPCs were being wasted. At first, I laughed and kept about my business. Half hour later, I figured the guy must have been bored by now. So, I went up to one of the NPCs with their dukes up and rescued him. The imperial said to me "What are you doing?" I laughed, pulled out my T21 and ran around the building, spamming mindshot2 until finally...I hit him. I watched him run around inside the walls, sprawling to get away as his mind pool drained completely. Two drains and he was down for the count and cloning somewhere on Kor Vella, probably since the NPCs didn't hesistate to deathblow his butt. I thought that was funny. I bet he never saw that coming
