Q made a post over in the Galactic Civil War forum, about some upcoming GCW changes. His post was very interesting. You guys can check out the entire post at:

forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=GCW&message.id=17705

For those that don't want to read the whole thing, it had two VERY interesting statements in it:

As many of you have noticed on the planetary map (Ctrl-V, default), you sometimes will see a crescent moon or a shining sun type icon next to a listing. Most often, you will see these listing next to your standard city cantina or medical center. As a general update given to the healing professions, the /registerWithLocation command has been made available for characters with an “elite” novice healing profession skill. By using this command inside a structure listed with a crescent moon, the character can allow other players to know that there are active characters manning the location. Similarly with the top tier HQs (Detachment Headquarters – and “in development” Strategic Base) which automatically show on the planetary map (as well as top tier camps established by faction-declared Rangers), elite profession healers may /register. In the event that the registering character is declared to the same faction as the HQ (or camp), a variety of effect bonuses are granted at the time of healing:

- Doctors: Medicines receive a +25% effect bonus

- Dancer/Musician: +25% to mind buffs, +10% wound/fatigue healing

So it looks like Rangers will be gettinga PVPoriented "Strategic Base" as one of their new camps, and only Overt Rangers will be able to use them.

He also mentioned:

“Trapping” skill will assist in avoiding mine detonation in the event that a critical search failure is made during location attempts.

Someone else already mentioned getting a message about having evaded a mine because of their trapping skill, here's the official confirmation of the new ability.

Just thought you guys would be interested to know this stuff.

Yes, I just read that myself. Ranger is really looking like it's going to be a well rounded, and essential class in the GCW.

Great Info!

So, to clarify, registered healers in a high-level camp will show on the planetary map? Cool!

No, the top-tier factio HQs are shown on the map, not the top-tier camps.

It says "as well as top tier camps established by faction-declared Rangers" and the whole thing is talking about places that will show up on the map, that you can /register at, and receive the named healing bonuses.

That's what I thought at first, but I think they only meant that the top-tier ranger camps could be registered in by an elite healer to receive the bonuses, not that it would show up on the map. Regardless, the grammar was pretty bad in that entire sentence, so I guess it could go either way.

Yeah, it is perhaps a little unclear. But what interests me most is the fact that a PVP type camp is even in the works. I mean, if it is going to be useable by overts only, one would imagine it would have some type of defenses, and other amenities that would DEMAND such a restriction. I can't wait to hear more about this new idea.

Guys,

I saw that last night and should've posted it up here.

Looks like we're minesweepers now too.

I have a concern about this Strategic camp. I am not sure if I like a profession's ability to be limited in use, only if they are part of a faction and an overt, as well. Seems to me that the abilities and gear of the professions shouldnt dependent on that. I understand needing resources that might have to be gotten from others. Like metal and polymer. Plus, with the camo kits. WE might have to go to the chefs to get the Lokian wheat for the Lok camo kits. But, being required to be part of a faction, to get the use of one of our abilities. That seems like it is screwing the rangers that want to remain nuetral.

Would you agree if the alternative was not adding it at all, and no one gets this new camp, declared or not?
