Thread: You Rangers Stick in PvP!
Sorry about the rude subject but I wanted to get your some feedback on an idea I got : )
Call me crazy but I think a Master Ranger should be able to use a special trap what would wrap wire around the ATST's legs causing mass damage and long lasting KD effect.
I'm not onefor shouting that everything in SWG should be like the movies but this would make Master Ranger attractive to PvPers and I think all classes in the game (except crafters of course ) should have something to offer in PvP even if it is only geared toward a player's units : )
After all isn't this game about a Galactic Civil War.. not about collecting hides and running up a hill fast to study Smoky the Bear and pick berries from the ground lol.
Tripwire trap + AT-ST = dazed AT & vulnerable imperial controller..
I really hope this works.. Been on my mind for a few days
Guys,
First, I don't think we stick in PvP at all. Pretty much every Ranger has a good combat profession - since we're hunting all the time, we need it - so we can hold our own. We aren't the best at PvP but we certainly don't stick.
The trip wire trap should work on AT-STs - so let's take a look at what it will actually do before we start asking for something else. Who knows - maybe the tripwire will do something exactly like this. Then again it could stick too.
Finally, the game isn't about the war - it's about Star Wars. If you want to argue semantics, how many people did you see running around Naboo asking to train people? How many random battles on the ground did we see in the movies? Were there ANY creature handlers, besides the Rancor training in Jabba's Palace? And I don't think I ever saw a chef in the movies, either.
Part of the game is PvP. The other part is PvE - and that's what we're good at. We may stick at some things, but we're the best at others.

I have to disagree with you on that. I feel Star Wars online is about making your character the way you want it. They offered classes that would be great in fighting and other great in other things. Personally I don't participate much in the fighting since I think our biggest enemy in this game is not each other but those evil critters on Yavin and Endor. ![]()
I love the fact I can go very far and be the only living player for hundreds or maybe thousands of meters. Just me and my little ATST and my pet Bantha. ![]()
But from what I have been seeing on the boards we will be soon the top dogs against CH's and thier pets. So don't worry your fight is coming soon. ![]()
Well, once we get that tripwire I'm going to be anxious to set as many as I can (I suspect only one at a time) and then draw an Imp with his pet walker across it.
That's gonna be fun!
I love it when their big pets die.

Also, Rangers will be able to trap faction pets (yay!) use tripwires, conceal, factional bases, and right now we have rescue. If you think /rescue (sorry can't stop using the / ) is useless you have to realize you can use it when the players fighting your friends CANNOT fire at you because you are under cover. So you are basically making the enemy useless for the 1 - 5 seconds it takes him to realize he is no longer shooting at your friend and has to reacquire the original target, at which time you can use it again. 1 - 5 seconds in a heated PvP battle is a pretty long time.

One more thing, Master Ranger has +10 melee and +10 ranged defense. Along with the d's provided by the Ranger's other combat class this isn't bad defense at all.
Wonder if the creature-to-hit bonus will help against player pets?
