Thread: Master Doctor's problem with High tech FB

Hello folks,

Just thought I would drop a line here for everyone to consider. I am a master doctor/ranger and just got the ability to make the HTFB. While I consider this a bigger accomplishment then getting master doctor, I am sad to say that it doesnt do much for me other then for people to come by and say "ooo, nice camp".

The High tech field base, while very pretty, doesnt do much in itself. It has a 1.0 healing rate which is the same as if you were in a med center. It also has a public chemical/general crafting station and a weapon/droid/etc public crafting station. Over all, if you just consider this, thats not bad. But consider the other following option:

I can purchase an R4 droid from a Droid engineer that offers a 1.1 healing rate and a personal crafting station with a 14 effectiveness (might go higher effectiveness, this is just the highest I have seen) for both chemical and weapon/droid/etc if I really need it. or I can give him storage, a data module, etc. so all I would need is a basica scout camp to pop him out, which even a non scout can open up. Please keep in mind that Doctors/ high end medics/ combat medics need personal crafting stations to make high end med supplies (stim D for example) so the HTFB is next to useless.

Making this comparison, as it sits currently, please please please tell me why I should spend all these skill points. Now, before I get flamed, I know they are making changes to the camps, but i havnt heard what those changes are. does anyone know if they are changing the HTFB to include a better healing rate or personal crafting stations? The only camp change I have heard of is the blind which gives a bonus to melee, also useless for the doctor.

You aren't the only one complaining about this. Add to this the fact that you can't go inside the tents, the lights don't work, the roof doesn't keep the rain off, laser fence doesn't repel very effectively (being fixed), the sattelite dish doesn't work, worthless data terminal, you can't heal battle fatigue (and we don't know of a BF heal droid module that a dedicated entertainer could bring with), and I'm sure I'm missing a lot more.

It makes a Master Ranger almost want to give up Master and drop the frontiering line all together to free up quite a few skillpoints for something useful like survey (needed for our new camo kits). Not yet, but...

The Field Base is worthless as far as usefulness. The only reason I still have it is because it looks cool. I'm ready to drop my Frontier skillboxes and use that for Novice Artisan and keep my Novice Medic skills. At least those are actually worth the skill points.

The only Camp changes on TC are to the XP gain.

No new camps or additions/modifications yet.

No changes on camps yet on TC, *but* they are going to not only add new camps eventually, but also restore the ability for camps to repel creatures. I can only assume the higher the camp, the stronger the creatures it can repel.

1. Droids need to be adjusted. No droid should be as effective as a Med center or HTFB or FB, period. (OK maybe a medical droid) That said, all droids shouldn't be medical? A droid doesn't come with 4 cots and other pretend surgical gear. So the droids need adjustment.

2. No one needs camps, period, except to call pets. I was grouped with Master healers and they can cure wounds with droids, during battle, etc. There is no need to rest in a camp after a battle. The only reason to camp is to get more XP to get the next camp.

3. Droid crafting stations shouldn't be as good as full size ones, or else something needs to be fixed, maybe make the droid ones good but the city/camp ones that much better.

4. Make it more costly to buy these Swiss Army Knife Droids by making them require more comonents to build them, our tents got beefed up why not the Medical and Crafting Modules.

My friend LOVED hanging out with me cause he is a Chef and he used my food/chem from my base as we hunted, it's really a great pairing, but then he got a food/chem droid and my tents are no longer needed.

The tents are very useful for soloers who have NO medical skills to heal their own wounds and for people who cant afford droids.

It's also nice if the group had a lot of mind damage and need a rest, but that rest sometimes isn't needed because by the time you set the tent up you could have waited 2 extra minutes sitting in the grass and it will heal itself.

A basic camp kit with amedic (not doctor)and an uber droid should be almost as effective a HTFB

Camps need to be adjusted so that a basic camp can fit only like 4 people healing wise, so groups of 20 will NEED a HTFB or a FB

Master Rangers need to get Planet Specific Hunting Cabin Deeds. Extra Small player house that requires an extreme amount of camping skill to use.

This would give us the ability to heal Battle Fatigue as well as give us the option to supply our own Private Crafting Stations of our choosing. Not only that, but it should allow us to put up residence on the Advanced Planets, making us true Frontiersmen.

Not something that could be moved on a whim, but It shouldnt cost too much to pick up and move from week to week.

I will never give up on this idea!

I'll be keeping Master Ranger for the Dathomir Camo Kits most likely. Also the option to /register high end Ranger camps to receive a healing / bf bonus sounds pretty promising. If you're looking for instant gratification in a class that was virtually empty to start with, you'd best look elsewhere

Sigh... which means at the earliest, we can see some changes in the actual camps in about a month. sadly I am going to dump ranger and go with something actually worth it like CH or combat medic. Sorry guys, another disgruntled ranger leaving the ranks.

To whom ever the new corrispondant is, please bring this up to the Dev's because atm its almost pointless for me to keep Ranger (except for the tracking when it goes live, hmm... dammit!)

we're not gonna be able to harvest/forage the components of a camp kit ourselves? excuse my bluntness but if thats true, thats pretty stupid.
