Thread: Ranger specific language.

The post on animal calls got me thinking. Here is something that has no real impact on gameplay but seems cool and makes sense. Perhaps Rangers could communicate using various bird whistles or animal calls. It would be a ranger only language basically. Much like the Twilek lekku language. Also, perhaps you could have it set to various ranges so it could communicate to all rangers within a certain range, say 128-256 meters.

- I like it.

- Why should the Twi'leks have all the fun?

- I've been in the middle of several conversations where a group of Twi'leks were bantering back and forth among themselves using their "special" language.

- With all the other languages simply window dressing, I think more specialized languages would be sweet.

My answer to this: Why the heck not? In all seriousness, it doesn't sound like such a bad idea. Smugglers should know backwater languages the average folk doesn't. BHers, too. Dancers, well, can't comment on that. But there is such thing as body language. Don't know if that's a substitute for the real thing, but maybe there could be some sign language involved with that.

Needless to say, I think a Ranger-only language would be pretty neat. If you're going the way of birdcalls, it should be audible from loooooooong distances.

I am in favor of anyting that makes Languages cool and usefull!

As it stands now, languages are too easy to learn and don't really do anything for the game since Everyone knows Every language.

Yes, it was the twileks, as you say "bantering" back and forth that also made me think of it. The only problem with this is that compared the major fixes no one will back this gungho because it really has no effect on actual gameplay. But much like the pistoleer gun flourishes where they twirl the gun ( possible future update) I think it will add to the game and be simply to implement. If you think its a good idea post and mabye it'll get some recognition.

I like it also, seems like it would bring a certain uniqueness to our class.

I hate to play devil's advocate, but I shall anyhow. What would be the point to this that /tell wouldn't fix? Also, if they give the Rangers a "uniqueness" they will have to give every other class a unique feature in order to balance things out. Smugglers & BH will ask for a secret speech, Dancers will have...well, dance will just....You get the point. I'm not against the idea necessarily, just trying to bring to light the reality of things.

- And I'm totally in favour of all that

- Squad Leadersshould definitely have some form of special hand signals (likenavy seals, and such).

- Dancers could have a form a rhythmic dance moves.

- Musicians could have codes embedded in their songs.

- Smugglers could have unbreakable codes and such for getting around the Police

- Etc. Etc.

- If we do one, we might as well add the rest in the process.
