Thread: Traps advice wanted
The thing about traps that always makes me pause, is that they take a long time to throw. Will the trap be more beneficial than another special combat move? That's a question that can be difficult to answer, especially when the effect is not very apparent. If the trap lasts two rounds, and I've already given up one round by throwing it, what am I getting out of that one round of blindness exactly?
When I throw a glow juice, or a glow wire, how does that make the animal more vulnerable? I don't think I've ever missed an animal since hunting III on the scout tree. Now I'm at field bio III, the bonuses to hit animals are off the charts such that I never miss unless the target and myself are running. Does the glow juice increase my damage? because I need no help whatsoever on accuracy. 100% is 100%.
I haven't hed a chance to try adhesive mesh yet, because I keep forgetting to bring polymer with me. Is that an effective trap? I saw one guy take down a large animal while it simply stood there for like 5 minutes. Does the effectiveness increase with your trapping skill? How effective is it at master ranger?
Adhesive Mesh and Phecnine Dart can be an effective combo to killing dificult mobs. What I normally do is start combat by first throwing an Adhesive Mesh trap. I will blast a couple of times and then throw the Phecnine Dart trap.
Now when the Adhesive Mesh effect expires the creature should still have the Phecnine Dart effect ( snare ) and so gives time to move away and throw another Adhesive Mesh. As long as the effects are kept overlapping you can fight safely.
