Depending upon the population of your server, Dantooine is a good planet. You can potentially solo it if you have a good pet (level 23 or better would be my suggestion).

"Dantooine is a good planet."

- Can anyone provide aorder of difficultyfor the planets?

- I've only ever been to Naboo, Corellia, Talus, Tatooine, Lok (listed in my order of difficulty).

- I found Tatooine very difficult for a starter planet. Especially compared to the docile creatures on Naboo.

Well, just look at the level of the Camo Kits. That is sort of the "order" of the planets :

  • Naboo, Corellia, Tatooine

  • Rori, Talus

  • Endor, Yavin-4

  • Lok, Dantooian

  • Dathomir

(I am doing this from memory but I think that is the order of kits)

As for Naboo and Tatooine....They are just different. Naboo has its own share of "tricky" creatures. Finding a Plains Hunter in a newbie area is not uncommon.

I agree about Dantooine!

The best way to learn about Dantooine is the follows (IMO):

  1. Unequip your weapon;

  2. Mask your scent;

  3. Run across the planet;

Don't fear (and DON'T SHOOT) if an animal breaks your maskscent -just keep running (use burstrun if the creature hits too hard). It'll calm down pretty quick. Don't forget to examine animals so you can define your future hunting targets. Then return to Dantooine with friends and/or pets for a cool hunting party!

BTW, yesterdaythree hours of Dantooine exploration gave me about 10k of scout XP...

Off the top of my head, this is how I'd rank planets...

Tatooine, Naboo, and Corellia are starter planets. There are bigger mobs on Naboo and Tat, but mostly seems to be low/intermediate.

Probably rate Rori next. You could start there if you wanted as well. The mobs, once you get away from town are mostly teens to mid 20s.

After that, Talus. High teens on up.

Dantooine. Starting to be not much little stuff around when you get to this planet. Seems the smallest stuff is mid 20s, at best.

After that, it's all what I've heard, as I've not been. But Lok, Dathomir, Endor, and Yavin 4 are the advanced planets. Not much soloing around there unless you're very advanced in combat. And most likely have a good pet.

Note, that in my opinion, Tat, Naboo, and Corellia do have some good intermediate and high level mobs on them. But generally it seems as if you run across them somewhat infrequently anywhere near a town. You generally have to hoof it a bit to get where they regularly inhabit.

"Well, just look at the level of the Camo Kits. That is sort of the "order" of the planets"

- Simple and effective, I like it.

- So Lok is actually more difficult than Endor? From the insanity I have heard regarding the Ewoks, I was sure it was the other way around.

- Well since I can handle Lok, I guess I can probably attempt Endor and Yavin-4... Nice to know.

"As for Naboo and Tatooine....They are just different. Naboo has its own share of "tricky" creatures. Finding a Plains Hunter in a newbie area is not uncommon."

- But, there are no comparable critters on Naboo for a Tusken (those chaps are tough ).

I started my Ranger profession while on Tat, and I'm still there. I think it's a good planet, enough low to medium creatures of various types there. It lead to getting good xp and resources either solo or grouped. Sout West region of planet has lots of dewbacks and dune lizards, and bantha.

I have heard from other Rangers I know that Dantooine is great. Especially if you're a rifleman with /concealshot.

Nah, don't solo with pets, they soak up all your xp and have to be healed.

If you can find a place to run around without hitting too many mobs, just stock up on phecnacines and glowires and adhesive mesh.

Then find an anti-social animal, get 45 meters away and your combat should go like this:

Phecnacine (wait for succesful trap feedback before throwing next. If first doesn't work, use second. If second doesn't work start running and hit suppression. If that doesn't work it may be burst run time, you decide.)

Glowire. If glowire lands and works, then:

/Healthshot1;/Healshot2 - this will stack two bleeds on target

Now, don't use a special. Save your ham in case the beast catches you, which should only happen if you have trap failures. (As master ranger, with traps made with experimentation and good materials with droid and weapon tool, I still get up to four failures in a row). Also save your ham for animal-control moves like suppression, warning shot, and threaten shot. Save your strength for contingencies, and let the gun do its work! Too many let their own weapons exhaust them, leaving only a few hit points for the animal to knock off ya.

You can stack adhesive mesh (rooting affect - animal no move) on phecnacine (snaring affect). Pull (start attacking) the animal with Phecnacine. If you're nervous about timing the next phecnacine dart, throw adhesive mesh.

Glowire is important because it drops the creatures ranged and melee defenses. Your gun will cut through them much quicker that way, and if you have to use pistol whip it increases damage.

Once animal breaks free from traps, of course, run back and reapply. After hitting /usetrap, your toon will still cover about 5 - 10 meters of ground before stopping and throwing, which takes 2.5 seconds. Movement has no bearing on the trap landing on creature.

Once the trap hits the animal and slows it down, stop and keep blasting. Again, avoid specials, unless you are entirely confident of success.

Repeat this cycle, and you will own the animal, no matter how big. Except for krayts and Kimogilas, who don't take well to traps.

Throwing traps uses about 32 units of action, but if you lay off the specials with your guns this will regenerate while you're firing the gun.

Oh yeah, in long battles the animals defenses will go up. You may need to reapply glowire.

Using this method I took down an Ancient Burdock (sp?) on Endor yesterday morning. It took nine phecnacines, two adhesive meshes, and three glowires. Maybe the system was bugged because I got 1500 pistol xp and 2500 combat xp. WT? I swear that's how it was because after pulling the trigger, running, and trapping for five minutes I was disappointed when I got 1500 pistol. But then I saw the 2500 combat and thought 'wow!'

Also, traps don't soak xp like animals do.

Squid, I started and still hunt on Tat.

The planet's beautiful. The others are too, but I guess for computer graphics its easier to have a beautiful desert than landscapes with lots of trees.

If I want some tough stuff I can handle solo, I take mountain squill missions. 4545 pistol and 450 combat XP. They don't deathblow, aren't social, and have only melee. Controlling them with traps is not a problem. Also they are **edit** ugly beasts .

Dewies and Rontos are fun game.

And don't forget, Tat has the ultimate hunt - Krayts.

Maybe if I started somewhere else, I'd like that place more. But I've been everywhere now andI just love running around the sand dunes and wadis.

Dathomir I love for the pure freakiness of the place.
