Thread: Bounter Hunter interested in spending final 33 Skill points on Tracking/Wayfaring
My opinion as a Wayfaring IV/Tracking IV- Currently Maskscent (which applies only to creatures) and Conceal (which applies to creatures and NPC humanoids only) are not reliable enough to invest skill points in. There is discussion whether this was a bug introduced in the last patch or something the devs intend to tag "working as intended" now that it's in. Until this issue is resolved I don't recommend any expenditure of skill points in Wayfaring (unless you want to crawl faster which Wayfaring does pretty well).
Areatrack is a bit buggy right now as well, but it does show what's around you. Plus, there are improvements on the horizon since everyone, including the devs, seem interested in fleshing this skill out. I have heard about a possible future skill called Tracking which would allow you to essentially waypoint a particular target. In addition, the Tracking line opens up some information regarding creatures that is helpful in day to day gameplay. I believe you get Areatrack of players at Tracking IV (20 skill point investment including Novice Ranger and the four Tracking boxes).
So, for the time being I would put some points into Tracking. I would wait and see what the devs do with regard to Maskscent/Conceal before I invested any skill points in Wayfaring. After the issue has been decided and they do any applicable patching, then you can weigh the results against your playstyle.
Hope that helps ![]()
