Ranger Archive

I was wondering if it was a more of a combat based profession. Because when i looked at the skill tree's all i saw was skills for, stealth,harvesting, camping and tracking. I don't see to many rangers either. Is this a good profession for combat?

Ranger is a combat based not in the sence of its is a fightingproffesion but more for the requirement of a combat proffesion being needed as you can't make millions form crafting ranger items

Ranger is a profession that backs up combat proffesions, you get nothing really of combat bonuses stealth is just for avoiding aggro, harvesting is after combat, camping is hardly used anymore (but I have noticed people are using them now during big hunts on nightsisters) and tracking is just used to find things you want to kill. Trapping works on most creatures but it ends there.

If you are going to do it make sure you have a good combat profession to help you suceed I sugest rifleman or any melee due to increasing demand for us on materials such as wookie armour (well for me anyway)

Rangers are great for talking to...long walks on the beach....moonlitdinners on obscure beaches.

No, we are not a combat prof. We basically can track down targets and harvest hide. We have one skill that deals directly with combat- a to-hit modifier for attacks on animals...This equates to almost nothing since if you're a master of any combat prof, there is little likelihood that you're gonna miss anyway. Basically, if you're a combat-oriented person, you're better off stacking combat skills rather than adding Ranger. If, however, you are tired of dealing with jerks and "l33t ub3r jackas$es....then Ranger may be for you. We are creature hunters and harvesters, but our defining characteristic seems to be a smart, funny, friendly community.

That and we are without a doubt the holders of a higher form of humor. or is that a higher forum of humor? forum Ranger, anyone?

If all you're getting out of Ranger is tracking, then maybe it is a useful trade-off of skill points. But Ranger is definitely more geared towards PvE / Rare Creature Hunting than any sort of PvP combat.

Ranger is simply the best class in the game in my opinion, but I may be biased lol.

Rifleman/Ranger is by far the most common combination, why, because it works brilliantly. Stealthy approach and concealed shot can drop almost and critter without them even knowing you were there. Add to this a hravester droid and you dont even have to move.

Im currently going Ranger/Creature Handler, nothing better than using tracking to find a baby then walking straight into the middle of a hostile lair using mask scent or Camoflage, taming the baby and walking out again.
