Outside of tracking targets and caming your group from radar can rangers do much in terms of pvp?

We're useful as cannon fodder (no offense meant to Canon Fodder, of course)

In the rare instance where terrain makes a difference, we might have a little edge there as well, but seriously, as it is right now, we're not a combat class and there aren't any advantages to having ranger in a PvP template.

I will say this, however. I do PvP a little on my server and almost exclusively as a member of a squad. Being able to keep "/track" of enemies (especially Jedi) from 500m and see where the enemy is staging is pretty helpful. My tracking skills have been useful to my team on any number of occasions, be it for raids or base defense (in the latter, we really shine, in my opinion), and almost always, I feel like I'm contributing to the fight as a ranger first and a rifleman second.

The part about our being able to remove our allies from radar by way of camouflage is, unfortunately, false. We can't actually do that, although Fred, among others, has been working hard to get us something similar in terms of stealth. (Also stickied at the top).

OK I have a question then. Our guild was recently in a guild war. We were ambushed and none of us saw them coming on radar. I asumed cause a ranger was in thier group they used cam. SoI in turn did the same thing for our counter attack. I figured it worked or they weren't paying attention one or the other, but if cam isn't what they used to make themselves radar invisible then what was?

Camo does not take you off radar.

No clue why you didn't see them.

Could they have been inside a building, maybe? That's the only thing I can think of offhand. As for your counter-attack, maybe they weren't paying very close attention. No idea.

No it was at our Pa Hall and it's private to members only. They came from the other side of it, but we didn't see them on radar at all. lol

either you goofed or the system hiccuped or you couldn't see them because you were inside. Ranger camo does NOT take you off Radar. though it should.

This is horrible! I return to find my new title on the forum is "Jedi". What's up with that? If they wanted to confer that I'm rare and learned, they'd make my title RANGER. and then make it camo colored.

No camo does not take anyone off of radar, no matter how much we want it to or ask it to.

Either your group wasn't paying attention to the radar, and or with that they had it sent to very close range and not out to 128. Or you might have been on a server boundary. Lots of strange things happen on server boundaries. I have seen people on speeders not show on radar until they were right on me and stopped. I could see them, but radar showed nothing incoming until they stopped.

I use tracking in PvP and is about the only thing. I use it at base defence to keep an eye out for incoming attacks or scouts. Right now I'm in a guild war, and what we are doing is going around to player cities. I track a bit looking for any. I then do /who and look for anyone of the guild we are fighting. Not everyone uses /anon. So if I see someone, and they are in same area as me, I start tracking for my squad and see if we find them.
