Similar to Squadleaders needing pistol xp, will Rangers need carbine xp to advance?

I think (hope) that's a random example. I could see the link between Carbines and the new recon Ranger, but I suspect the pre reqs will stay as 2 Scout lines.

He's just using "carbines" as an idea, not a required thing. It's just part of the story he was telling. So I'm with Calc on knowing it won't be anything needed.

Hopefully we do get a weapon though.

Well I'm actually hoping it does become necessary to have Carbine IV and Trapping IV as the Pre-Reqs. Sure this will limit people like smuggler by having to take two novices, but think about this. It seems the creature harvesting mods will be moved to scout. IT looks like Camps really serve no purpose anymore. No mention of highlevel new camps for ranger.. Right there is two trees that can be eliminated as a pre-requisite. Terrain Neg mods already will be distrubuted throughout the Ranger tree.


I guess I'm the only one here that would like to see Rangers be linked to Carbineer. I think they fit nicely. I played one during my hologrind days and had fun for a short time.

Seeing as we used to have to master scout and ranger, throwing in a prereq line of some combat line seemed stupid. Since there's no way we could afford the points and we'd all be (insert profession) because it's required. Though now that we're losing two trees, I still don't think it'll happen. It's far too limiting to our enhancer mode of profession.

While I believe are prereqs will be two lines in scout, the new ranger does feel like a hybrid profession.

wont happen, they will take away never add prereq. First if someone already has full temp and they annded a prereq they didnt have, what do they do just give them free points? or subtarct from already learned skill? see it wont happen. So will we not ba able to track anymore? i like to track krayts

That happened with the cu. People had sp in the negatives. They couldnt move when they logged in csr's had to fix the problem.


I'd be all for carbines 4, but of course im master carbines

lol I can totally see them linking it to carbines 4 and then making the ranger profession be all carbine xp... kinda like what they did to smuggler

wow that would be a dream come true. i was master ranger about 1 1/2 years ago with master carbineer. it was horrible for PvP took me months of sitting in camps to get and left me with no medic skills, but it was who i wanted to be.... now i can become that again and actually be half decent at something... YAY for rangers

Trapping 4 + Explore 4

Thats what it will be. Everything in the new Ranger is geared off those two trees in scout. Plus it allows BH's to add this new Ranger thing by costing only 20 points to hit Novice with it.

Also it wont be a combat tree as part of the two simply because there are melee rangers and ranged rangers. Both can not be appeased by use of any of the current combat trees.
