Thread: Rifleman best with ranger after reading the revamp post?

Ok ive read the ranger revamp post and everyone knows atm that the best combat prof with ranger is rifleman so thats what i grinded a week ago.
What im asking now is after reading the revamp post, do u guys still think that rifleman might still be the best or should i start grinding something like smuggler or pistoleer? Any thoughts welcome.

Depends what you want your character to be man.
The best thing about this revamp is it gives ranger a massive presense, a unique one at that in the game. You can combine and mix to make lots of different combos that hopefully with help i will highlight in the FAQ later today.
Just as examples though here are some character roles:
- Sniper: Rifleman/Ranger:Stealth movement, extraction and combat.
- Rogue: Swordsman/Ranger: Melee DPS, Stealth movement and ability to jump opponements.
- Recon Unit: Ranger/SL/Combat: Stealth movement, group enhancement and leadership aswel as intel gathering and target spotting.
- Demolitions Expert: Commando/Ranger: Go in, place your mines and traps, move out and wait for the ticker to stop.
- Wilderness Survivalist: Ranger/Scout/CH: Go into the wilders, hide from your enemy, trap them and aid from your companions.
- Man Hunter: Ranger/BH: Get your mission, track down your mark, lay in wait to strike.
- Pathfinder: SL Mobility/Ranger/Combat: Know the way, lead the way, make the way
Ranger can contribute greatly to a template now.

I am thinking RP-wise either Smuggler or BH will fit best with the new Ranger. But really it is what Phen says: whatever you have fun with!

don't want to make anyone mad, but i was a ranger way back in the day, and mastered it
thinking about coming back with this new revamp, it looks pretty cool (will you guys get mad since i jumped the train?!)
those templates really help alot, i like how you worded it

I agree you should be what you want to be. I have always been a Master Ranger/ Master Rifleman, but that wasn't based on any specific need or power level. The game is about enjoyment... there is no best, only what best fits your own needs.
