When I began in this game, I instantly veered toward the direction of noble pathfinder, living in the wilds, plying my trade as a hunter. I walked these vast lands from north to south, east to west, meeting the various peoples of the galaxy in my travels. Sitting beside the fire of my camp, crafting traps for the hunt, I told tired travelers of the vast expanses I'd seen, and of the many interesting places they could find in the direction they were heading. I was an expert of the wilds, able to live for weeks and months at a time, hunting the big game of the universe, returning to the cities to sell my skins and furs. When I came to town, I was a respected individual. After all, not many others could survive for so long out there, and many a time had my camps been the savior for a weary traveler. My knowledge of the lands was also well known, and I was often hired out to find both places and creatures that folks needed. To work to become a master of my craft was a hard task, but the ability to hunt unaided for days at a time, often without even armor or the aide of a doctor may my work even more enjoyable. Alas, I got caught up in the galactic civil war, but I still looked to a time when I might take up and ply my trade again. It was noble and respected, and I loved every minute of it.

But now, news has come to me. It appears that my profession is changing rapidly. Gone is our noble aura, replaced with that of a common thief, stealing and sneaking to ply his trade. It is a sad day for Rangers.

(It's sad, although I really dig the new idea for a template, this in NO WAY falls under the word "Ranger." In fact, the word "Scout" better fits this new idea for a character class. Even beyond my Master Ranger days, all the rangers I've met in this game were serious class acts and wonderful people to go to to talk about the various places and creatures of the universe. Times they are a change'n.)

Not a thief, if you choose not too. But when duty calls, and the enemy has some vital information that could change the tide of the war, then you have a chance to become a hero.

Remember, many Bothans died to bring information about the empire.

oh man, just my imagination here, but it is what I had always wanted to see a ranger as. I am so excited. This profession was my first, and I will come back with this new career path. Creatures are fine and fun and great for those that want that, and it will still be there. But, to become a spy, covert operative... eeew the possibilities.

Those many Bothans probably weren't rangers.........create a new class, call it a spy or something..........Again, I'm not anti this new concept, just feel like they really ignored the folks who wanted stuff like improvements on camping/tracking/foraging and such, not just a complete deletion of them.

They did. It is called Ranger. Like in army ranger, seal, covert ops.... you know. I know, I know, its not creature centric. But really, ranger really should never have been in the first place. Not in this game anyway.
