First of all, it sounds like a dynamic change from what it is now, but thus is the way of the game and I still think it sounds neat. But there are a few things I'm wondering about. Probably too early to be asking any details, but if there aren't answers it can still be food for thought
.) Is it still going to require Master Scout? It sounds like they are pretty much transforming the current Ranger into the Scout profession, and then making a new Ranger profession. So I would think that it would hopefully require 2 lines in Scout so that it would be on-par with all other Elite professions.
.) Are the current "throw at a creature" traps going to remain in the game for the Scout tree? Or are those going to be removed completely? They aren't the uber anything for sure, but they still have thier uses.
.) Is Ranger going to grant at least some defense and general weapon mods? Stealth and boobie traps and such are neat, but once it comes down to the point where your in a fight, they aren't going to do a thing to help you win that fight. Not having additional combat specials is livable with the new features, but not having any sort of combat mods leaves you at a big disadvantage vs a double combat mastery (not to mention that if Master Scout is still required you are also unable to have Medic, essential in PvP,with even a single combat mastery). It would be nice if any weapon mods were either for both ranged and melee, or just for melee, since every other hybrid profession focuses on Ranged weaponry only and Ranger does seem to be the most likely to be roughing it with melee weapons.
.) How are the reworked Scout trees going to effect other Scout-dependent Elite professions? Creature Handler, Bounty Hunter, and Squad Leader. I think I read something about moving all terrain negotiation to Ranger, which is a bad move as far as I'm concerned. Creature Handler relies on Terrain Negotiation to get into a position to tame creatures, and to actually make a getaway if a tame turns aggro. If it were removed, it would be even more essential to use a vehicle when taming, which doesn't make any sense from a RP perspective or even a logical standpoint.
