I think its safe to assume that the prerequisite for Ranger are going to be lowered to only two lines, however I think the big question what those two lines should be. I think the two options the devs will go with is either two lines of scout, or one line of scout and the ranged support line in marksman. If the devs opt to go with two lines of scout, it will be nicer for those who want to stack Ranger with Master Scout or with Creature Handler.However, if the devs opt to go with one line of Scout plus ranged support, it will be nicer for those who want to stack Ranger with any of the elite ranged combat proffs. Essentially, depending on what choice the devs go with, it willimpact the cost of certain templates by up to29 skillpoints. Personally, I'd say go with the latter option, since that would make Ranger follow the pattern of BH and the new SL, as far a stackability goes. Plus, I have to imagine that with the new vision of Ranger, there's going to be a lot more players who want tostack Ranger with a ranged combat prof than those who will want to stack it with Master Scout or CH.

That all being said, I think the bestchoice would be to go with one line of scout plus ranged support, and then make sure that that one line of scout is one of the lines that CHs have to get (but not the one that Bounty Hunters have to get.) This would conserve some skillpoints for those who want to stack Ranger with CH, while at the same time keeping the pattern that getting two elite proffessions requires a minimum of three lines from novice proffessions. The only people who would be hurt by those prerequisites would be those that planned on getting Ranger but not getting anything at all in Marksman. It would also justify giving Rangers combat related skillmods that are comprable to whats in BH and the new SL.

If the devs opt to go with two lines of scout, I would say make those two lines the line that BHs/CHs have to get, and the line that SLs have to get. It would still end up being harder to stack Ranger with Rifleman, Carbineer, or Pistoleer, but at least it would allow players to stack Ranger with BH, CH, or SL without having to get four lines in novice proffessions.

Two lines of scout.

The only weapons it seems we get are traps, therefore we need that line, and we are stealth masters therefore need to pre-req that starts off your learning (mask scent from exploration).

I dont like the idea of ranged support and to pick another tier would just be too limiting. Keep scouting as it is, let people make choices to their template, this revamp really allows for this so i wouldnt want to limit its effect.

Without knowing what they have done with the skill-set in Scout, I can't answer the question yet...

I'd like to see it remain 2 lines in Scout, but if it was 1 Scout and Ranged Support, I wouldn't mind since I'm already a Rifleman. Although, those Rangers out there that are melee based may have a fit!

All of the Elite professions require 2 lines from ONE Novice Profession, while the Hybrid-Elite (is that what they're called?) professions require TWO Novice Professions with 1 line from each, which is a difference of 15 SP before attaining Novice in an upper tier profession.

The big question now is this,

Is Ranger still considered an Elite Profession, or Hybrid-Elite?

I think Ranger at present is the only profession classed as a Master Elite simply based on its pre-reqs. I expect after the skill point change we will be an elite profession. I can imagine us going hybrid with ranged support or carbines 4 but i dont like it and it wont go live like that.
