I am happy to see the profession getting some attention. The direction is not exactly where I would have taken it, however I think it is an acceptable one even if not for all of us.

There are two areas I think we need to focus on in our suggestions to the developers. The first is to enable Scout to complete the role many of us wanted from Ranger. The second is making sure the new direction is fulfilling. These ideas are not new, however I wanted to focus on them as a whole rather than in the disparate threads I have seen them.

1) Areatrack -- Many of us like this skill. While it is buggy and fixes for it would be nice, at the very least we would like it left in the game. How exactly can be debated, however Master Scout would be a nice place for some of its benefits to give this box some worth once nothing requires it as a pre-requisite.

2) Forage -- At first glance a fairly worthless skill, however another one worth keeping in the game. This was not exclusively a Ranger skill as the In Concept page alludes. It is the only way to get bait for fishing if you have none. It is useful to Creature Handlers for scrounging a quick bite to feed wounded pets. It can be used for a small, free but occassionally useful buff if a player wants. This last thing is the only part of the system that could use adjustment, but does not warrent removal of the skill from the game.

3) Armor -- Battle armor's look and universal protection seem more suited for a stealthy profession. These strike me as quieter to move in and with the proper colors better at blending into their surroundings.

4) Traps & Mines -- This is the one tree that has me worried. It is not that I do not like the concept, I simply worry that it will be difficult to make this line useful or it will be too useful. How will NPCs react to these? What sort of range will they have and can some of these 'stationary' traps be given minimal locomation to seek out a target ala a small bomb droid?

Once laid, is a trap independent of the Ranger placing it or will it be linked to them so that detonation attracts attention to the Ranger? If not can they stand in a spot and lay a new trap, unseen, after the number in the area decreases? The first way means they have to give a significant enough effect to sway the fight, the second could result in a tough to counter hiden damage dealer.

Against players, and my impression from reading is that much of this line is intended for PvP, is they can be a little more clever. How do you get them into an area to be affected by a trap? (This depends a lot on how the above works, but could be an issue either way.)

I am glad you made these comments .

I use forage to heal my pets . What will I do now .. How will I get fishing bate and what will happen to the PVE scheme fopr Ranger? How will I area track for the rare pets ?

Hmm I guess I will wait with baited breath hehe . But with my guild going heavy PVP and things changing I am having to really look at why I play the game. Not saying it is a bad game but is it for me anymore.

I love Creature Handler . And Ranger .. I did not or do not care the cost of points. I would like to have some more for medic mabe . But thats it .. the rest is scenerie for me. I would not mind a better rifle skill if I had room. To make my Bowcaster a little better. I am glad the Ranger is getting some attention now .. IT is a good thing and if the majority wants to PVP then this is a great scheme. It will make you invaluable to your PVP guild/friends. For the PVE person the jury will be out for a while. that I feel sure. But like someone said earlier it is still a little early to be too judgmentle. We may not see this for a few months yet.

In the mean time I hide in my house for the PVP and do missions out of town and try to pet hunt on Endor when life permits.

This game seems to be really concentrating on PVP more all the time. I soloed my template and now because I dont have a choice of rather or not some one can attack me .. I am ganked when a jedi with attitude comes along at war with my guild LOL . Whew .. I dont know heh .
