First of all,
I am as nervous as most rangers in seeing how we may be lessened in combat.
However there are a few things to think about.
Now that most of us have vented our frustrations, what is the solution?
1: Owen-Lars has already insured that the devs know what we think of the possible hitpoint problem
2: Rangers were never promised anything in the CU, we knew this coming into it, so how can we take what is in the new system and apply it to a revamp in the future?
3: This is probably the most important: If we can provide a short description of how we play ranger and our goals in the game as a ranger?
Me first:
As a ranger, I pride myself in the initial tracking, engagement and success of killing an animal or NPC. I use the traps to my advantage (only scout traps though). I arm myself with the best weapons and sometimes armor that i can afford, and i take care of my gear.
I often hunt solo, traveling to the furthest corners of all the planets just to go fishing. I often hunt in groups, if the situation warrants it, i throw traps, if we can take the critter down quickly, i dont bother with them. I see harvesting as not the goal, but the means to keep me well equipped.
I use the skills of the ranger to assist with the hunting and killing of critters, as a ranger, i believe that the battle is won or lost before the first shot is fired, with good preparation, and research with the /examine command.
I am a hunter and not a harvester, I am active and not passive, I assist my friends in the GCW and i believe that my skills as a ranger should add to the group dynamic.
I do not want the group to slow down for me, i dont want the group to protect me, I want to be valuable and essential. When i am alone, i dont walk in fear and in groups, my assistance is necessary.
We all know the problems, lets get some solutions ready.
