Ive been experimenting with different ranged ranger templates and so far the best ones are with little ranger skills. Sad really, Im at loss on what to do. Here are my options:
1. MBH/Master Ranger/squad leader 0300
2. MBH/Ranger 0444/CH 0304
3. Master Ranger/Master Rifleman
4. MBH/Ranger 0044/Rifleman 4003
5. Master Rifleman/Ranger 0044/BH 3004
6. MBH/MCH/ranger 0030
*Just would like to know which you all think is the best.

Hmm, just got a message from a friend saying he is MBH/ranger 0434/rifleman 4000. He said he chose this in the hope that ranger will cost less SP and he can eventually go MBH/Master Ranger/Rifleman Sniper. I think this sounds like an all around great template. What do you think rangers?

It really depends on what you want to do with your Ranger. Do you want to be the uber resource gatherer who grinds 100k stacks of resourses in the shortest time possible? Do you want to RP the patient hunter who picks off his prey one at a time? Do you want to make monkey selling camo kits for every planet?

I think Ill go with MBH/ranger 0434/rifleman 4000. I have confidence someday Ill be able to get MBH/master ranger/sniper.

Like I said, it depends on your playstyle.

How much better is advanced sniper shot than sniper shot I have at rifleman 4000?

I'm afraid I have no idea as I have never used it, being a Pre-CU Master Rifleman. My Advanced Sniper Shot with a 900+ damage rifle generally does upwards of 2000 damage, if I remember correctly.

I'm loving Master Ranger/Master Rifle. Get a couple of the ranged cybernetic arms and you can pick off critters from 80m away. Going prone under cover while wearing camo and sniping at far off creatures just has a great feel to it.

They are. There's a patch on TC just now. They work.

"Best" is subjective. It comes down to the template that is most suited to your playstyle. What's best for me might not be best for you.
For an objective view, download a professions calculator (theres at least one postCU one around now) or go through the skills tree with a pencil and paper and add up the modods for offence and defence (It's a pain, but it works). Remember of course that some of the stats will vary depending on whether you are weilding a weapon, what weapon you are weilding, etc.
Doh! Another way of doing it would be to go onto TC while the frogs are there, use the skill builder options and set up the different templates. It's not what TC is meant for, but its one way of doing it.
The key numbers to watch are Accuracy and the defence mods. The greater difference between your Accuracy and the targets Defence the more damage you'll deal out. The converse of course applies. The DPS will also vary depending on the theoretical DPS of the weapon and your speed modifier, basically the higher the weapons DPS and the greater your attack speed the higher your DPS will be. (Currently chucking out 500dps off an Advanced Laser Rifle on one toon and 450dps with a ryyk blade with another
