Thread: Returning after 9 mths off, not certified to use my weapons?!

Hello everyone. I have some questions and hope someone can help. After taking a 9 month hiatus I finally broke down and decided to come back. Surprisingly my character was still active, albeit I lost my house and everything in it, fortunately, being a Ranger I carried a lot of my stuff with me. I'm having a problem here though. I have novice carbineer, almost to master marksman (lacking a few points in rifles4 and pistols4), and master scout (duh), along with some basic medic and ch. My question is this, why can't I use any of my weapons? I read in the Combat "Upgrade" section that we would receive certs for each weapon. But as I'm fairly well up there, what do I have to use now if I can't use the same weapons I had pre-"upgrade"? My carbine is DXR6 Carbine with some mods, Laser Carbine SX, Laser Rifle, an Elite Carbine, and a Power 5 Pistol. So what? Am I a friggin' noob all over again? Do I need to go find a stick to beat down the aggros? Any one have any suggestions on what weapons I should go buy? I went to a couple of vendors but didn't want to buy anything as I might not be "certified" to use them. I feel like I'm about to be ceritfied (insane that is) after trying to understand all this "upgrade" s*#$. Thanks for the assist. Oh, and btw, how come Rangers aren't included in that pretty little picture of the new system of "tanks" and what not? Are they getting rid of us quietly? Good hunting all.

Welcome Back!
First off, you will want to check out this thread that lists all of the Weapon Certs
As for them slowly getting rid of rangers... I don't know where to start. Somedays it certainly feels like it. If you have armor questions, go to the Armormith forum, for weapons - WS forum, etc. Hopefully you find everything you're looking for.
In general, yes, you will feel like a noob. You can no longer get buffed, head to dath, and take on a stacked lair of Enraged Bull Rancors. Get in a group and have fun! Once you get used to the new system, it's quite enjoyable.

Thanks for the heads up Cryos. Guess I got some work to do then lol. One more question. I seem to recall they were thinking about letting us take characters from one server to another. Did that ever happen?

Deadly serious here, if you're just new back and have ANY othe relite skills you can live without, do NOT surrender them onthe skills tree, but try doing a respec first. (command is /respec but time is getting short, might already be switched off, dunno))
If you are entitled to do a respec get as many boxes of carbines that give you accuracy and defence mods. The boxes in marksman that you don't need? Well, they're pushing your CL up a little but not adding any useful mods as they are now dependant on carrying specific weapon types.
I'd even go as far as saying shft some of your Ranger boxes over (not trapping, that's a bugger to refill at the moment) as your CL is also boosted by the ranger boxes but they add NO combat benefits atm and, frankly, you're going to need all the help you can get from your guns.
