Thread: Some Questions about Camoflauge

With the Camoflauge change going live tomorrow I thought this would be a good time to ask for some clarification on the Ranger portion of the modifier.

Maybe Owen or someone else can answer this for me, if not ... perhaps this thread can be brought to the Development Team's attention.

So...

"Camoflauge: A higher camoflauge skill means the Ranger's conceal ability will last longer and be more effective on himself and others."

  1. Master Rangers currently get a +100 to Camoflauge (previously it was only +50 at Master Ranger.) The description, above, suggests that with a +100 camoflauge will last longer and exhibit its maximum effectiveness. Is the modifier percentage based or is it a bonus to the "check" that occurs around aggro creatures?

  2. With the change to CL, Con andtheir affect on Aggro can we assume that Camo will NEVER break against Grey Conned aggros?

  3. The modifier description, above, suggests that the Camo Modifier affects the conceal ability. From this I'd always assumed that the kit was meant to be a consumable item which allowed access to the conceal skill. Now that all players can use the kits without the Camo modifier ... what does that mean for the modifier?

    1. Do Rangers with +100 make better Camo? Or does it mean while they have it on its more successful?

    2. If a Master Ranger applies Camo to a non-Ranger, will it have the same success as if the Non-Ranger had applied it to himself? Does the success rate rely on the crafted quality or the Modifier?

    3. Will tapes with Camo bonuses be helpful to non-Rangers or will they need to have an inherent bonus from Ranger for those tapes to help?

These are just a few of my questions right now. There have been some seriously MAJOR changes to my understanding of the skill and I'm not sure how its supposed to work.

I think with this major change, which most Rangers flat out don't like, it would be beneficial to get some response from the development team.

It's plain and simple, Owen. All they did was change the things that affect camo, but theyprobably didn't even write the coding for camo. I'm guessing that they hired someone to write the programming for it, then fired them, so now they aren't able to even discern what camo does. But, they at least know that it is an item, and can be traded, so they could just add some coding to make it usable by anyone.

They don't care, or don't have a clue. It's one or the other.

ETC..........

All good questions.

One more I will add (though I suppose we will see tonight) is does everyone now have a "Camoflauge" skill with some value such as "Camoflauge +25"? If they don't, would itseem to imply, given usual game mechanics, that SEA's and BE clothing would be of no use to non-Rangers because there would be no "exposed" skill value for the SEA to be added to?

TH is posting in one of my camo threads on the corr boards atm but i still dont think he understands the issue here and its sort of a 'take on for the team' situation which is totally wrong. Im going to keep going until this issue is fixed and the dev team understand our opinions.

Ill try keep you updated as much as i can.

The way i've been seeing it since Alpha. Ranger havebeen "taking onefor teh team" as well as "taking one in the prison shower room" every time one of our ideas gets tossed around.

It's getting REAL old.

You might ask how many we're expected to TAKE for "the team"? I mean, I'm all for doing things that make the game better for everyone... but as we watch skill after skill either handed out to everyone, or made useless by patches or the CU... how many exactly do we have to "take"?

Just one more, or was there anything else than tracking ?

Hey TH,

Is there anyway that the team member working on the skill right now can explain to the crafting community what they can expect from Camoflauge and what limitations their application will have when compared to a Master Ranger?

Because the modifier claims to influence effectiveness and duration, a modifier of +0 (what all non-Ranger 1/0/0/0 & crafters will have) would imply no effectiveness and no duration.

What is the expected functionality of a kit worn by a player with no modifiers & how does that compare to the expected functionality of a kit worn by a Master Ranger (with Camo +100)?

It is my fear, that without such a description, there will be a major divide between what Rangers, Crafters and Developers are expecting from Camoflauge.

Thanks,

-WB
