Thread: I just don't get it......... (related to server downtime)
It's the doing of The Ghosts of the SWG Rangers.
It's camping the server room and won't let the Engineers get anything done til they agree to remove the camo changes.
"Forage for the tools you need to get those servers running!" it's saying. "Forage til you're blue in the faces... all your gonna get is obsurdly weak action regen bonuses!Muwah haha ... Muwah hahaha!"
The Ghosts of SWG Rangers ... you're my hero.

You thought those were 'just' cammo packs?
Some animal parts, a few bones, wrapped in skin...
/cackle
[It's official. The bats have left the belfry...]

Naa im just irritated that this stuff was working on TC but for some reason it won't work on the live servers.
Servers are weird things. Amazingly each hardware configuration is different and causes different things to happen. For instance. JBMatt has always told us not to put the /loot all command before the /harvest command because it will bug harvesting. I kept arguing that it worked fine for me - until I made a character on Scylla and realized he was right. It works on Radiant but does not work on Scylla. Weird!
Frankly I would rather have the servers down then wake up to some database weirdness... more weirdness than usual that is.

Gonna take pollution down to zero?

Gonna take pollution down to zero...
geez i'm such a dork to actually remember that...
Well, I'm on Bloodfin, also known as Bugfin, because every publish brings down our server, and quite often we are rolled back half a freakin' day without a "sorry, we're idiots" statement from the "Engineers."
So, why didn't we get the gold plaque?
I work for a software developement company. I have watched programmers prove to me in code that the fix was working only to see it break when the new Exe was compiled.
I have watched around 8 databases update correctly with a new patch only to see number 9 freak out and act like it was on acid.
Databases are weird animals sometimes.
I know how people freak here when a database or server goes down for any long period, glad I wasn't on the SWG team yesterday and last night.
That's data errors. Someone allowed a ( or a ), or something similar,in the data which the parsing engine took to be part of aquery rather than as part of the data. Comes down to programmers not doing their job at CYA from the users.
