Thread: Ranger Specific Ability Revenue Stream?
hello....just an idea
practically, every other class has a unique revenue generating skill (espically the elite)...look at smugglers now offering services of slicing for a fee....
well, we need something....hides are not as promising as they once were as almost every player has novice scout...yes, maybe we are more "efficient" and recieve a slight bit more on harvesting...but, there should be some sort of material/resource that only a ranger may obtain or harvest, thus requiring our services....i for one, do not depend on hide/bone/meat anymore and have gone into the business of selling other resouces to support myself..
additionally, i have had so many requests from individuals seeking to purchase my camps (high tech base camp) and traps....yet, this is not a potential revenue stream either as the developers have conveniently added a skill requirement upon the use of traps and camps...ppl are not able to place the camp without an equivalent lvl of skill required to produce it....
we need are own unique revenue creating skill/ability.....
please give me your perspective and promote this in priority

I thought it would be neat if we could actually offer our scouting skills for a price. For example, go set up a high tech field base near a really good hunting ground, and charge people a nominal fee for the use of it. What about taking newbies out on safari?

IMHO
Most players are still power leveling( I mean how many masters of three proffessions you know) so the esiest way of leveling is by killing by PvE, and with harvesting being so easy to pick up, everybody can harvest and have plenty of hervest for their own.
That being said, two things have to happen for us to be able to make money out of harvesting.
1: People start mastering their own professions, so they drop the hunting skills( they willl probably keep terrain negotiation tho) and rather buy the already cheap resources from the bazaar. This is so much easier than going out and hunting on your own.
2: The GCW has to pick up momentum. Then people will have a lot less time for hunting, since they are probably going to be engaged in a lot more PvP, and armor is going to be a must have(I believe armor requiere lots of hives)
Anyway i think that in twomoths prices for hides are going back up and whoever is a ranger at the time has an edge for gathereing the resource, thus being the rangers main source of income.
That ois my theory I might be wrong, feel free to correct my theory if you think is wrong.
