Thread: Traps versus Armor Break?
The traps that lower defenses such as the Glow Wire and Glow Juice are relatively ineffective especially in comparison to Armor Break. From my perspective this is somewhat backwards as the Traps require resources to craft. They require prep time since they must be made before you use them and they are consumable. Once you are out of the trap in question you can not apply the effect until you create more of them. Additionally you must move up the Ranger tree to effect higher level mobs for little return from the trap comparatively. Armor break on the other hand requires no prep time and no resources. Armor break is simply an ability that has a tremendous benefit especially when compared to a defense debuff trap. Also, Armor break works on NPCs, Creatures, and Players while the traps can only effect creatures. From that vantage traps should havce a much higher effectiveness since they are limited to (PVE) vs. creature only, require resources, prep time, and appropriate Trapping lvl. Is there any way we can ask the devs to examine the balance issue between Trapping Defense Debuffs versus Armor Break?
Its been my experience that I only received a 8-12 point increase in damage after using these two traps.
In general right now not worth the effort to make or use.
I am sorry but whats the point of asking for anything.
Look what asking got the smugglers and Squad leader so far. For that matter the Creature Handlers.
I am of the opinion now its just let wait and see what the devs do to us in the future. For good or bad its not in our control so why bother suggesting or fighting it anymore.
The devs will do as the devs see fit.
Good call Phenix! I think we probably ought to have traps to apply all the states and effects out there - armor break, bleed, dizzy, stun, knockdown, slowing the mob, etc etc.

I see it got Squad Leaderers a dedicated publish
The devs will do as the devs wanna do but there's no harm in asking very nicely and not very often.
We have to make what we want fit into their vision just on their timing

Actually it didn't get Squad Leaders anything...
Matter of fact many times in the past 2 years it was stated Smugglers, Squad Leaders and then Rangers would be addressed in that order.
Now the Squad Leaders are asking to have the new skills toned down to avoid a future Nerf bat. Take note all the wonderful write ups for Squad Leader and Smugglers were NOT used by the Devs.
So feel free to use up bandwidth and write up whatever makes you happy this week. I am of the opinion that most of these write up are a waste of time. What the Developement team needs and wants are ideals that are not overly complicated to implement and code.
God help us with al the bubble gum holding this code together.

And a significant number of those asking for the skills to be toned down are going by the design document and not direct experience of what happened when these were used on TC (in part due to the flaky state of TC this weekend past).
There is no harm in people suggesting improvements, putting ideas forward and at least getting some sort of concensus on how the community feels about the suggestion.
What is destructive, corrosive and really starting to put people off contributng to the forums are the negative posters who insist on telling us there's no point doing anything, nobody listens, no point posting and wasting bandwidth. Oddly enough, it rarely stops them posting or wasting bandwidth... such a scarce resource too.
(sarcasm intended)
If you can get an armor break and a sonic pulse to stick to a Krayt, you are in fat city. Drop a bleed on it next and it will have an enormous effect, better than having a droid along - the bleed is relative to the fact that the break and two states are in effect.
I keep telling the TK and melee types to drop an armor break if they can, but they keep getting ate - not all the time but with amazing regularity.
Also, note that an armor break of and by itself does 0 damage. Miss it and you do no damage and get no effect.

I use Glow Wire traps to single pull every time .. I see that it does some reduction in armor but nothing too serious but it is the bomb for the single pull . Also .. I do that then sonic when they get to me and pet trained Armor Break .. LOL . Works never failed yet ..
So just a thought mabe if they increased the effectivness of the Glow wire trap I could no longer single pull .. But then agian mabe there is another I could use .. I never tried past what worked.
At this point, I don't think anything is really "not possible". But I don't think we will be given such a trap until there is time to look at all our traps.
