Thread: ranger camoflage usefull with rifleman?

hi,
just want to ask you ranger guys if it makes any sense to get the master ranger if you plan to use mask scent + camo + concealshot on maybe kimogilas... what iam planning to do is killinf high level mobs with my concealment shot without being attacked by them. (high level mobs often detect a rifleman using conceal)
thank you for any information on that.

High level mobs will break conceal and maskscent anyway. The only way you get attacked is if you get too close, miss a few times, or the creature goes into attack mode (i.e. a speeder drives past or you cause a bleed). /maskscent or /conceal will add a few extra misses as long as the creature doesn't break it (which they usually will). The main advantage of Ranger for /concealshotting is that you can move at a reasonable speed while prone. As long as you start out prone and make sure that the creature doesn't come closer than 55m or so then you will be fine (55m is the buffer zone I used to use to make sure that server lag didn't cause too many problems). If you cause a bleed, just get up and run. If a speeder drives by, /peace and pray. I usually didn't bother with /maskscent or /conceal when using /concealshot because the creature broke it anyway. If you plan on /concealshotting stuff under CL 100 then it might help. If you are doing creatures like the Giant Dune Kimogila then it won't make too much difference anyway. But the crawl speed does.

Mask scent and Camo are pretty much the same thing. Some say Camo works slightly better then mask scent but there are no numbers to back this up. If you want to concealshot larger creatures the best (and probably only) reason to go for camo is the fact that it lasts longer then mask scent at the cost of resources and a lot of skillpoints.

I use mask scent almost exclusively. I found that Camo, for the resources required was just not worth the effort, broke way to often.Conceal shot is a great way to solo large critters, just takes awhile. As Nemo0 said when useing this shot you have to be mindful for the random bleed it will cause. In which case you are going to get argo'ed.

Heh... I used to think that camo was the shiznit til I dropped and just kept concealshotting npc's from 10 meters away... lol. Camo is nice but not near as good as the conceal mod you get with Rifleman. Rangers should get a constant conceal mod like that which works with npcs with Rifleman.
