I posted this on the SWG Ranger site. I thought I would post it here so alot more could read it.

Well we had our meeting. This was great fun. I haven't laughed so hard in a long time.

I know none of us could wear our Ranger tags except for the ones on Wanderhome, but just the sheer number of us was amazing, and there were some who couldn't make it. It was real fun. And I am sure that the Ranger spirit was seen by all for miles, including the powers that be (SOE).

The story (a short one)....

I land for the Great Ranger Meeting. Not being from this galaxy, they quickly take my pack, telling me it will be returned to me when I leave the galaxy. I asked about getting my Ranger papers for the meeting. "You may be a Ranger where you come from, but not here, move along". I have just enough credits for Scout papers, and a couple weapons.

Leaving the starport I am confronted not by a few, but a whole crowd of other Rangers. Some of the names I talked to in the past. Some I thought were just myth's, but they were there. I heard that there were a few that had shuttle problems and couldn't make the meeting.

A few hello's, the taking of muster, checking our gear, we make our way out of the city. I saw a few passer-by's stop and just watch us roll out of town. This must have been a moment in history, all these rangers of different races and galaxies banded together.

There was destruction and mayhem left in our wake. Womp rats, kreetles, rills and even the nuna's were running for thier lives. It really was a site to see. But there were dangerous moments. Our fearless leader, Calculus, while trying to solo a hord of kreetles that were trying to overrun us, was sadly incapacitated by a womp rat. But without regard to our personal safety the 15 or so Scouts quickly ran toaidand save our sensai Master Ranger. With a little help from the local Doc, he was soon back fighting behind us (way back), making sure we were all doing it the Ranger way.

We took a little break for some others to catch up. I think this was a really needed stop in the action. Getting some rest, listening to music and getting the much needed cosmetic work with an included facial, geared us all up for the next run at the wilderness.

We took on the banthas, dune lizards, and the occasional desert marksmen that want to test thier skills against our overpowering cdef weapons, daggers and poles. Even our traveling Tattoo artist was in the mix bare-knuckling her way into battle.

The harvesting was incedible, and I am not speaking of just immense numbers. It was the fact that if you got to the animal or not, it didn't matter. Because being around others of your own kind, it doesn't matter. Just being there to help each other was payment enough.

The afternoon sun started to set and we decided to part ways. No hugs or tears that with come with parting of friends that are not sure if they will ever see each other again. None of the many "keep in touch" phrases I hear so often among the other professions. What I saw, from my point of view, was a tribe, or family if you will, leaving each other knowing that where ever thier paths may take them, the rest of us will be there. When the time is right, our paths will cross again, and we will meet like we were just together yesterday.

I think this will have a lasting effect on every Ranger. Wether there in physical appearance or in heart, the impact of all the Rangers, Novice, Master, or Scout, being together for the first time in centuries, that one moment in time will be felt throughout all the galaxies for generations.

I, the self proclaimed wandering soul, fell in love with being Ranger all over again.

Excellent! Great description.

I went as Tresar E'lar. He is actually on old character I made but never play (he still has SOE's Christmas present in his pack ). I don't think any of the other professions could have pulled this off. Not only was it a good sized group even though a bunch of people couldn't make it.... but we all had FUN! I left early but I don't think I heard a single complain the entire time.

For me the biggest moment was when we all first left Mos Eisley. Maybe I'm just silly, but seeing that big group of mostly novice scout move out together was just cool.
