Ello all from Chimaera.

I'm a Master Riflewoman, Master Ranger and damn and blast it, I actually like using traps.

It's really only the phecnacine dart I use a lot - I tend to primarily attack with headshot and mindshots, and the phecnacine dart does a good job of keeping the creature at bay whilst I run around trying to avoid the kreetles.

What I'm keen to know is the toughest creatures that we know traps work on are.

I'm pretty sure they do the business against Rancors of various sorts, and I think I failed on the Peko Peko albatross and Giant Dune/Enraged Kimogilas.

Are there any mods / bonuses that could get a Ranger up to being able to successfully trap one of these top creatures?

I believe there are some passive jedi skills that are geared for Rangers (at this stage we can all try and ignore the developers giving +1 weapon speed the same cost as +1 foraging/camping) but maybe with bonuses and jedi passives, we'd be able to trap even the most tough of creatures.

As relatively pooey as that is, I do relish the idea of being rare; of being a specialist. If I could focus on something like that through bonuses I would, even to the detriment of what are classically considered more powerful skills.

Anyhow chaps and chapesses,

What's the score then? Are Rancors about as tough as traps can affect, and any way we envisage being able to trap the toughest creatures?

I was able to trap up to CL45. I havent tried higher lately. I might have hit once on a slinking voritor. But i'll have to go check. At the time i was using Adhesive mesh. Its nice to be a BE and force the creature to sit still even if its only for 2 seconds. Now im loving the good old glow-wire. Except it doesnt have the same success rates as the mesh did.

Off hand, i think the toughest creatures have CL waaaaayyyyy higher than that....

I'm not a ranger anymore, but 45 is way low. I think you can hit 45's as a scout. I could stick them fairly regularly against mutant rancors (CL 70) and I remember getting some to stick on a Juvie dragon. I don't remember how often though. I just remember that I did it.
