Ok.. I dropped ranger a while ago.
It still hurts, but I decided to aid the Empire in the eradication of rebel insurgents.
So my skill points had to get put to all combat.

I miss ranger.
I miss role playing a ranger.
I miss the fact that ranger is one of the few classes that is usually role played.
In fact, right after dancer, I think ranger is the most role played class, then maybe doctor.
What do you guys think?
Do you RP at all?
Is it easier to RP a ranger?
Is this enough reason for me to take up Ranger again?
I am still considerd one of the most knowledgable on ranger in my guild, since it was my firt profession and I kept it for a good number of months, through thick and thin.
(hehe.. remember when we didn't know the NPC maskscent thing was a bug?)

I guess I just kind of miss these boards and had to drop by to say hi and see how things where going.

well I try to RP in the game as much as I can.... unfortunately there are times when I step out of character, mostly when I get griefed by some imperial french player..... which is strange now thta I think about it.. the only players who really have bothered me have been french.... huh..

Anyway, I try my best to RP as much as possible while in the game.

I RolePlay a LOT with a buddy of mine. We actually role play teaching skills sets. So when I taught him Hunting I, I actually had a 5 minute conversation with him about hunting. Where to go, the tactics and the best types of meat. Only then did I teach him a skill.

When I'm around him, I say certain words in Bothese...he doesn't know the language yet, and we Roleplay me teaching him the language. He actually has a LIST of Bothan words, and we'll Roleplay me teaching him new ones. We did it near a city once, and we actually got about 30 tells asking just what the heck we were doing. People came and watched. It was hilarious.

I love being a Ranger, since the ability to Role Play is so high. You can be Aragorn (if you have a sword) or any other type of Ranger you want to be.It's great.

This is horrible! I return to find my new title on the forum is "Jedi". What's up with that? If they wanted to confer that I'm rare and learned, they'd make my title RANGER. and then make it camo colored.

I'd like to roleplay, especially as a Ranger. But frankly my imagination usually goes for a long walk when I try and I just end up standing silently watching other people roleplay instead ... which is really annoying because I spent ages thinking up a back story for my characters!

I also get a bit frustrated with the various roleplaying communities I've come across - too strict (ignore you if you slip out of character or keep your profession tag on) - I mean, its meant to be fun isn't it?!

I'm always willing to give roleplaying a go though, and hopefully I'll be able to do it more often in the near future. Its one of the reasons I suggested an official Ranger greeting a while ago, not that the idea ever got anywhere.

I can't do the "Shakespearian" role play ether, I like it "casual". I like to think I play who I really would be in SW... which is why I choose Ranger out of all of them and make all my toons look like me (or as close as it is possible). Makes staying in charactor easier if you play yourself.

Ranger is not a profession. It's a lifestyle.

This is so great, so many people in this game either don't want to or don't know how to RP and it bugs me to no end since it's an RP game! I love to RP but I don't know many people who do. I'm currently trying to get apprenticeship points to master scout so I can become a ranger and I would LOVE to RP with someone.

While I enjoy RP'ing...

there are a few people that I feel comfortable enough to do it around. Some of the RP community are a little too strict, and are unforgiving about anachronistic and out of character statements, however, the majority of the RP community are fun loving and great people.

I dont RP as much as I like to, but at the same time, the PA im in is so cool, that I naturally slip into a Ranger-Like role without having to "play" I guess I just am a ranger at heart.

I usually role play my Ranger to myself while running around, solo-hunting, etc. Think up story lines, plausible reasons for why she is doing what she is doing etc. When I initially interact with someone I try not to say anything imersion-breaking (except for - I love your design! - I can never resist complimenting a great design.), I let them make the first move. If they role-play I will do my best to keep up , if they are out of character (ooc is the proper term I'm told) I'll talk out of character as well too.

Inspired by Cantina Crawl 6 (like the Ranger meet, but for entertainers) I started an entertainer on Starsider. It is EASY to role-play there. In the Mos Eisley cantina I think 90% of the people are role-playing. My very first hour there I saw a Master Ranger (Nowi) and had to work very hard not to gush all over her (him?). I didn't quite manage it. I've been keeping a weather eye out to observe how s/he interacts with other role-players and get some tips.

Radiant sadly, is not so easy. But check out the galaxy forum. There are several threads about role-play designated cities that look interesting (they might be a page or two down). I think they are going for a "Sopranos" like theme. Smuggler cities with different factions and families that vye for power. Another city has suggested becoming rivals and having guild wars. Fascinating stuff.

Didn't you know Sereph? Kauri is the unofficial French server! Radiant is the unofficial Spanish server. Luckily I have a real-life Spanish-speaking friend who I often call for translations. So far the only phrase I have been able to reliably remember is "Me gusta tu diseno" which roughly translated to "You are cute." Not a great response after being ganked hehe.
