So I get this contract for Naboo herb meat right. I go out, and know that Bolle Bol are the best highest yield for it. Well their missions are level 35-40. Guess what, with only one single master combat profession, pistoleer, I can't grab anything beyond level 25. Because I'm master Ranger, I can't afford anything more then on primary non hybrid combat profession. Not sure about others, but pistoleer won't let me get Bolle Bol missions solo.

Can I pull out my droid or dewback to group with and get higher? No because long ago, they nerfed that so it actually lowers your considered level. With any of my pets grouped with me, I actually could only get level 21 missions. Great it dropped 4 levels!!

I ran around trying to use /areatrack to find some to kill, and found a couple, and some lairs that were missions, which I left. This was like in an hours time, I found 3 to kill. I know with tactics and traps I can solo a lair of Bolle Bol, even without buffs or armor. A little synth steak, and brandy, and hash I'm good to go. But I can't get missions by myself.

So the main way myself, and many rangers, make money I am not able to do very well or efficiently, solo. Give us our blasted /track command, and or make it so master rangers can pull ANY level animal mission from terminals. Make it so what ever the level range on the planet I'm on, and the animals for that region where I am, all levels of animal missions come up, for master rangers. This would actually be more efficient and faster to do the job then using /track. But using something like /track would be more fun, and more ranger like, and oh I don't know, something already promised to us by the devs.

I just posted on the Corr Forum about mission terminals...great timing. I wish we could pick any level difficulty we wanted. For the love of Pete (he is a good guy after all) we need a way to spawn creatures with the current spawn system!

Woot Calc.

You mention things like the current spawn system. Well that just throws fuel to the fire regarding the whole deal recently posted by TH about 1000 mobs per server, each mission, dungeon, natural take up from that 1000. Makes me wonder just how effective /track will work. Hopefully it won't be negatively effected by lack of spawn system.

Say hi to Pete for me.

Squid,

I see this as two very separate issues here:

#1) The terminals: they are supposed to reflect our combat ability. The fact that they don't, is partially a product of the combat system being so out of whack that you now have people easily solo-ing krayts and kimos. I recall a while back when they did a Friday feature where they listed some of the creatures that were being solo-ed that shouldn't be. I believe that pickets were #1 on that list. Now it's gotten so bad that noobs buff up and join "solo groups" to hunt things like savage quenkers for the xp. I guess what I'm saying it, in an ideal SWG world, perhapsa guy with a pea-shootershouldn't be able to solo a big pack of Bolle Bolles so easily, and the CL 25 missions that you can pull would be a challenge to you.

#2) Rangers & Hunting: ideally, rangers wouldn't need to run combat missions. Combat missions are for combatants, we are, well, hunters. That fact that we rely on them is a sad statement indeed. To me, ideally, a ranger would identify the need to hunt herbivores on naboo, go to the scouting terminal, get a couple of hunting missions for bolle bolles, and head out into the wildnerness and use his/her tracking to find them. But with our awesome hunting skills (don't laugh) the scout terminal payout would be inconsequential compared to the harvest.

At least pistoleers can get level 25. Last nite a fencer, who can easily wreak havoc on Talus torts, was saying that ungrouped, the best he is drawing is level 20 missions, and torturs are level 25. That is a buncha crap. Let Masters pick their mission levels, up to a point.

Maybe the combat balance will even stuff out.

Failing that, I just go to Endor, grab some gurreck missions and pig out on the hides and easy cash.

Sorry, maybe I dont' understand what you are saying, but Rangers terminals do exists. That kind of missions "find 45 kneetles and defeat them". They are the better paid missions (also, they are the missions that will take you more time).

Right, they exist, and I think they are a pretty good idea, so why aren't any of us are using them? Because:

a) not enough spawns of thecritters on the terminalsexist in a given region at a given time to support such quests.

b) Along with (a) our tracking ability is too limited to find such creatures even when there are spawns of them in a given region.

c) A ranger's ability to actually hunt is pretty limited. Ranger skills don't really give you any advantages to actually killing your prey so you are right back to relying 100% on your combat skills.

What I'm saying is, is if they fix (a)-(c) none of us rangers would probably use those combat missions ever again.

Those terminals pay more per mission, but they do not pay better. By the time you've killed 45 mid-range creatures you've been paid much more than the scout terminal will pay.

I really use that explorer terminals. When I am hunting for request, I take two of these missions as en extra-income.

They pay more but not better becuase it takes longer to complete these missions. If your urgency is to make momneyquicker, you can takein an explorer terminal one voritor lizard missionand in a "general" terminal another voritor lizard mission. This way you'll find your prey easily. I did it sometimes when I was novice = urcency of cash-flow

I have only once used an explorer terminal.... generally theyre useless.

Secondly, there are a lot of solo groups around so you can get the best missions, but when harvesting on contract, a 60% yield is a heavy hit to take when trying to get max resources.

Here is what I would like to see added

Ranger Terminals:
Accessible to Novice Ranger
Creates a sortable list of creatures to hunt in the planet
The Ranger picks one type of creature, in this case, bolle bols.
A waypoint is given to a general area, and natural spawns around the ranger start happening at an increased rate.

I agree, the combat system is messed up, (really hoping the CB changes stuff a lot) and we may not be able to pull as high missions as I can now. As sad as that might seem, it will be a blessing in the long run for non powergamers like me. I think any ranger is probably not a powergamer.

None the less, that makes it even more of a point for us to be able to keep up with our lively hood, and main staple supply organics for the crafters. I like the "idea" of the Explore mission terms, but don't use them for all reasons ppl have stated. Now maybe if they actually spawned lairs, but gave very little or NO payment? That way we can get missions for things purely for the scouting xp and more importantly, the resources. But again, this will be not used if solo rangers are limited to lower level missions.

Maybe the CB will make such a change that not nearly as many missions will be run since people won't be able to do much solo. Thus more natural spawns, of "what ever" and a fixed /areatrack and addition /track will be worth the dev effort.
